With the Premier League taking a break this weekend due to a round of FA Cup fixtures, we take a look at the top performing goalkeepers so far this season. Leading the way is Thibaut Courtois who has 28 points more than his nearest challenger. Hugo Lloris, David de Gea, Joel Robles and Petr Cech will also come under scrutiny.
Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea
Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois is having a tremendous season and the former Atletico Madrid player has thirteen clean sheets in just twenty-two starts. He has a total points tally of 78 and even though he is valued at 13.5M, this doesn’t seem to expensive for this super reliable keeper.
Hugo Lloris- Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur have climbed to third place in the Premier League table and will be looking to go one better than last season and claim the runner-up spot. They are unbeaten in their last eight matches and came away from Manchester City last weekend with an impressive 2-2 draw. Hugo Lloris has been an integral part of their rise and with eight clean sheets so far this season he can be in your fantasy football team for 9.5M.
David de Gea – Manchester United
David de Gea is regarded as one of the top keepers in the world and the Manchester United keeper has been his reliable self this season. He is valued at 12.5M and has accumulated a total of 36 points giving him a Price/Performance ratio of just 3.4. That is sure to rise though as Manchester United state their claim for a top four finish in the second half of the season.
Joel Robles – Everton
Joel Robles is the cheapest of the top five performing goalkeepers this season and he is valued at just 5.5M. He has racked up at total of 35 points, which is just one less than the aforementioned David de Gea and his Price/Performance ratio is much more impressive at 7.6. He has just come into the reckoning in recent weeks and with three clean sheets in his last three, he will be difficult to dislodge from the number 1 spot.
Petr Cech – Arsenal
Veteran keeper Petr Cech, who is now 34 years old seems to have been around forever. He has made the Arsenal no. 1 place his own and is one of Arsene Wenger’s most trusted players. He is valued at 10.5M and has a total of 31 points. With Arsenal sitting in second place in the Premier League, he will be looking for more clean sheets as they try to keep up with Chelsea at the top.
