Serie A Fantasy Striker Picks – Week 14

inter-icardi

Some juicy match-ups this week, there should be plenty of opportunities to score for the top strikers in the League.

1) Mauro Icardi: despite a sore knee, he is coming off yet another brace, against Atalanta. He is simply a killer in the box. Thanks to several multi-score matches, he has a perfect scoring average: 13 goals in 13 games. Inter will travel to Cagliari, which is in good form but has conceded 15 goals in 6 home fixtures.

2) Lorenzo Insigne: it is actually incredible that Gian Piero Ventura did not field him from the start in the second leg of the World Cup playoff. He has scored a magnificent goal against Shakhtar and a clever one against Milan. Udinese have had a leaky defence, especially at Dacia Arena.

3) Mario Mandzukic: he was rested against Barcelona, which means that he will play on Sunday and could even start as centre-forward, giving Higuain a breather. Juventus have a very favourable game against Crotone coming up.

4) Ciro Immobile: even when Lazio does not have a good game, he still manages to find the bottom of the net. He leads the scoring chart and Fiorentina are definitely a softer opponent than Roma, so look for him to continue to deliver.

5) Edin Dzeko: the Bosnian has not scored in a while, but Roma are playing extremely well and he continues to be their main reference point upfront. Obviously, the defences are focusing on him, something that has damaged him but helped his teammates find more room to operate. After six goal-less games, he is probably due and Genoa have struggled at home.

6) Roberto Inglese: Chievo have been so-so in their last four outings, but they tend to take advantage of the games against low-table teams and they will host Spal on Saturday. He scored a brace in their last home win over Hellas Verona.

7) Simone Verdi: he provided two assists against Hellas Verona. He is a streaky player and he is hot right now. Sampdoria have been perfect at home, but they have left a lot to be desired on the road so far, so Verdi will have another opportunity to show his class.

8) Andreas Cornelius: Gian Piero Gasperini will probably use his best XI against Everton, rotating the team a little on Monday when Atalanta will take on Benevento. The match-up could not be easier and Cornelius has been more prone to scoring than Andrea Petagna.

9) Giampaolo Pazzini: Hellas Verona are in trouble, but the veteran striker, despite being often benched, has scored four times. Sassuolo have been extremely poor at home so far, collecting two draws and four losses, so he might have some scoring opportunities.

10) Alberto Paloschi: Spal have garnered five points in the last three games and they will try to maintain their streak alive as they face Chievo Verona. He has scored twice in the last four games and he is a former Flying Donkey.
