Our Ligue 1 picks ahead of the weekend’s action

Check out our picks for the weekend’s Ligue 1 fixtures, as the battles for the Europa League spots and to avoid relegation begin to heat up!

Benjamin Lecomte

The 26-year-old shot stopper has played a prominent role in Montpellier’s season, with his side very much in the conversation for a European spot this season.

Montpellier face an away trip to bottom placed Metz and he will be hoping to add to his record of 10 clean sheets.

Adil Rami
The 32-year-old is enjoying a stellar maiden season at Marseilles, securing 12 clean sheets in 23 starts so far during the campaign.

His side travel to a mid-table Saint-Etienne side with a modest goal scoring record and the French international will be quietly confident of a clean sheet as his side hope to consolidate second place in the table.

Fábio Tavares

Far and away the highest point scorer of the Monaco ‘defenders’ within the game, the fact that Fabinho  usually plays as a sitting midfielder means that he has contributed many attacking points – adding four goals and three assists to his nine clean sheets.

Monaco take on strugglers Angers this weekend and the Brazilian will be hoping he can add to his record at the Stade Raymond Kopa.

Youssouf Sabaly

The French-born Senegalese right back has enjoyed a positive season at Bordeaux, having made his loan move to Les Girondins permanent in the summer.

His six clean sheets have seen him make his way to 16 points this season – a figure he’ll be hoping can fluctuate as his team hit a vein of form under new manager Gus Poyet.

His side host 17th placed Amiens and they will be hoping they can secure another win as they threaten the European places.

Thomas Meunier

The Belgian right back is enjoying a productive season for Paris Saint-Germain, winning an impressive 51 points this season from three goals, two assists and eight clean sheets.

PSG face a mediocre Toulouse side that sit just a point of the relegation zone, meaning the capital’s premiere team will be confident of retaining their 11 point gap to second.

Nabil Fekir

Fekir’s Lyon come up against a Rennes side that have encountered a sloppy patch of form, having lost the last two matches.

The French playmaker will be hoping to take advantage of this lull and build upon his 16 goals and six assists this season – a record that has brought him 80 points over the campaign.

Adrien Rabiot

A prime example of how the PSG academy can complement their big money signings, Rabiot has developed into a vital cog within the league leaders’ machine.

Playing a supportive role for their block buster front three, the 22-year-old has won 33 points from four assists and one goal.

Alassane Plea

Nice travel to a Dijon side that have won just one of their last five fixtures and will be all too painfully aware that this is the type of fixture that they need to win if they’re to get a spot in the Europa League next season.

With 32 points to his name, the exploits of 24-year-old Alassane Plea will be vital to their efforts as we approach the back end of the campaign.

Thomas Lemar

He may not be having a season that is going to deliver the sort of figures that he provided in 2016/17 but the Frenchman still carries a sizeable threat.

His five goals and two assists have delivered 30 points this season, the 22-year-old will be eyeing a few stellar performances in the 14 remaining fixtures – starting in Angers.

With a total of 18 goals and 11 assists in his 17 appearances so far this season, the Brazilian has delivered the figures we were all expecting when he made his shock move to the French capital from Barcelona this season.

The Toulouse defence will have to put in a near superhuman performance if they are to repel Neymar and his team mates this weekend.

Radamel Falcao

The Colombian centre forward has netted a goal every 100 minutes this season, a rate that has seen him grab 17 so far this season – the highest of any player outside of the PSG front line.

With his Monaco travelling to an Angers side that have shipped 34 goals this season, he’ll be hoping he can add to this record.
