Allegri, Bonucci, Dybala, Bernardeschi and Szczesny preview the Supercoppa

Since the game is being held abroad and the coverage is enhanced, more players than usual talked ahead of the Supercoppa against Milan. Massimiliano Allegri spoke the club’s TV: “It will be a great night and we will be looking to bring home this cup that has eluded us few times recently. We have lost on penalties twice and once late against Lazio. It will be a good game between two storied franchises and with a trophy on the lead. In this type of games, the point-difference in the League does not matter. It will be a nice test for us to get things going after the break, and we have already started doing that in Bologna, but also to measure ourselves ahead of the clashes with Atletico Madrid.”

On the lineup: “Some players that did not feature in Bologna will be part of it. I am very happy about the conditions of Douglas Costa and Federico Bernardeschi, who are returning at their usual levels both physically and mentally. Sami Khedira is re-gaining his value after some injuries. Leonardo Spinazzola played well on Saturday. We are working hard because there will be several deciding fixtures in the second half of the season.”

On Milan: “They will have great enthusiasm thanks to the win over Sampdoria and it will be a very meaningful game for them because beating us would raise their self-confidence. We will need to have focus and respect.”

Leonardo Bonucci gave an interview to Juventus TV as well: “We want to lift the first trophy of the season, as this club always play to win. We came here with great desire. We will have to be aggressive, because Gennaro Gattuso’s Milan proved they can perform well and create troubles to the opponents. We will have to clog up the spaces and prevent them from having too much possession or from taking advantage of our mistakes. Seeing such a stadium filled with people is always a good sight, we are accustomed to it but it will give us a further boost.”

Here is what Paulo Dybala had to say: “It is always nice to play in important finals. We played well against Milan in Serie A: this will be different but we hope the result is the same. We started the year well and we are fine physically. We know we need to have a good showing to have more chances to be successful. Our effort is never lacking. Football is a great sport in this kind of occasions. I have made my first appearance with Juventus in a Supercoppa in Shanghai, it was unforgettable after just one week at the club and I was on the bench. It was a fine night in China and we hope to replicate that in Jeddah.”

Federico Bernardeschi weighed in the game too: “It will not be easy, we want to triumph both for ourselves and for our fans. We know it is must-win game. I have always worked hard, unfortunately injuries are part of the game but the most important thing is to get back on track. It will be a tough match due to its nature, we have to dig deep and find a way to express our full potential right away.”

The last one to comment was Wojciech Szczesny: “We will need the perfect performance since it is a best-of-one game. We have to live it at its fullest. We are aware that Milan have quality and grown-up players. We have an important mentality, we know how to win and we hope this can make a difference. A sold-out stadium makes everything better, an environment like that helps. The team did well in Bologna, the first game after the break is difficult, the rhythms are slower, you have to be ordinate in order to avoid conceding. We managed without spending too many energies.”
