During an interview with Sky Sport earlier this week, Stefan de Vrij spoke about the potential pitfalls that await Inter when they face Frosinone at the Stadio Benito Stirpe tomorrow night. The Nerazzurri central defender is aware of the fact his side cannot afford to slip up as they look to secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League group stage, especially with difficult matches against Roma, Juventus and Napoli still to come before the end of the campaign. Here is what the 27-year-old Dutchman had to say:
“I feel good, I’ve trained with the team this week without any problems. I’m ready to play and I’m available. Frosinone are doing well (having won their previous two games), they won in Florence against Fiorentina and that’s a difficult place to go to, above all because they’re strong with the support of their crowd so we need to be ready. It’s a vital game ahead of us. The aim is to return to the Champions League so we need a top-four finish, we’re looking to win every game, starting from Sunday.”
The former Feyenoord and Lazio man also discussed his goal in the recent Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan: “It was an incredible feeling, I hit the bar in the previous meeting when I lacked a bit of luck but it went in this time and we won the game. It’s a memory that I’ll always carry with me even if the game is behind us now and we have to look ahead.”
