During an interview with Radio Anch’io on Radio Uno, Inter CEO Sport Beppe Marotta discussed a variety of topics related to the Nerazzurri, including the ongoing controversy surrounding Mauro Icardi’s recent return to the starting XI and Luciano Spalletti’s future as coach ahead of next season. Here is what he had to say:
“Icardi is a resource and an important asset for Inter, as well as being one of the best strikers around. We’ve managed a situation that is part of the dynamics of football, although the dressing room is united and we’re all focused on our objective.
“Spalletti is our coach on full merit. He has another two years on his contract and Inter are hitting their goals – the coach is also certainly not a beginning in this profession. We need to place our faith in him because he’s achieving the results we expected.
“The stadium? It’s an important situation because it’s a fundamental asset and because it has value on both a commercial level and a sense of belonging. It must be a place where you can experience the passion on a daily basis. The stadium revenue is also an important element.
“Transfer dealings? The Zhang family wants to improve year on year. We must support the squad with elements of quality and a winning mentality, as we are looking to do with Godín. We must find players that can have a positive impact and also help those here to grow.
“VAR? The technology is looking to eliminate errors, not to resolve all of them. The great difficulty is on handballs, where there is too much subjectivity.”
