Nainggolan frustrated by Inter’s lack of killer instinct

Radja Nainggolan spoke to the media in the immediate aftermath of Inter’s disappointing goalless draw against Udinese. Here is what the Belgian, who is celebrating his 31st birthday today, had to say about the match: “We’ve dropped two important points here, it was a classic game in which the opponent sat deep and we weren’t able to get a goal.

“If you don’t score quickly, everything becomes more difficult. We were missing that final pass to score, we could have made more of certain situations. Nevertheless, it’s good that we’re ahead of other teams in the league. We have to make up for it immediately at San Siro against Chievo Verona. We need to give something extra, just a few games remain until the end of the season and every match is difficult.”

Argentine striker Lautaro Martínez also had his say on what became a hugely frustrating evening for the Nerazzurri. This is what he told Inter TV: “We’re creating many goalscoring opportunities. The amount of ball possession we had tells us that we played well, but we were just missing a goal.

“At one point, we had a lot of attacking players in the box and we were trying to win it. Now that the end of the season is close, we should be fighting harder to achieve our objective, which is to qualify for the Champions League. We needed to score to win, to remain calm as we look to achieve our goal. We’ll work hard this week to prepare for the match against Chievo Verona, a team that have nothing to lose. We need to play our game to win.”
