Inter have found their new main guy for the right flank in Valentino Lazaro, who was signed from Hertha BSC for a reported fee just north of €21M. The 23-year-old player put pen to paper to an five-year contract. In the last two seasons in Bundesliga, he registered 87 appearances, notching 11 goals and 13 assists. He previously played at RB Salzburg and he 19 caps with Austria.
Lazaro has featured in few different positions during his career, but he is a specialist of the right wing as he is able to cover all three positions there and therefore figures to be an ideal piece for Antonio Conte’s new 3-5-2.
Inter did not retain Sime Vrsaljko, who will miss months due to a knee surgery, and Cedric Soares, who were on loan last season. Danilo D’Ambrosio can play as wing-back and will therefore still be in the mix, but they opted to bring in a younger and more offensive player. He can also serve as centre-back if need be.
As far as the other flank players are concerned, Antonio Candreva could transition into such role if he stayed at the club, while Matteo Politano, who as the starting right winger, will likely play as second-striker, as he did efficiently in his final months at Sassuolo under Giuseppe Iachini.
