Serie A Round 7 Fantacalcio Player Trends: Stock Up

Last weekend in Round 6 of the 2019/20 Serie A season, the current league’s top six clubs in the table each pulled out victories, most notably Antonio Conte’s Inter making it a perfect six wins with their 3-1 result over cellar dweller Sampdoria at the Marassi.

Along with some positive results, there were plenty of notable performances accompanying them. Stefano Sensi and Alexis Sanchez ran the show for the Nerazzurri, with the Chilean bagging a brace before subsequently being sent off with a red card. Colombian striker Duvan Zapata and Papu Gomez also kept their hot starts rolling with a battering of Sassuolo 4-1.

For Round 7, there are plenty trending in the right direction, including several newcomers who have quickly risen to play key roles at their respective clubs.

Here are five individuals to consider for your fantacalcio rosters this weekend.

Paulo Dybala (ATT, Juventus, Value 13.10) – The Argentine’s workload has varied quite a bit thus far under new boss Maurizio Sarri. Last weekend, however, Dybala started up front with Cristiano Ronaldo, showing tremendous harmony to coincide with the Portuguese international who was on the receiving end of a great cross which led to a goal. We all know Paulo‘s role will vary based on whether Gonzalo Higuain plays or not, but with the former Napoli striker starting midweek vs Bayer Leverkusen, Dybala could see himself back in the XI against Inter in the Derby d’Italia – though that remains up in the air. Still, the ex-Palermo star is solid value at 13.10.

Rafael Leão (ATT, AC Milan, Value 9.30) – Troubling times to the Rossoneri’s start eliminates many players from making it into your fantacalcio rosters. Yet, one of the few bright spots has been Portuguese forward Rafael Leão who, albeit raw, has shown what he is capable of over these past three defeats. Technical, elusive, and confident, the 20-year old‘s first goal for Milan in the 3-1 defeat vs Fiorentina last weekend gave us a clear understanding of what caliber of player he is and projects to be moving forward. With Giampaolo fighting for his job this weekend vs Genoa, Milan will need Leão to step up and deliver a big impact, which makes him a solid play at 9.30. Go grab the former Lille breakthrough star.

Papu Gómez (MID, Atalanta, Value 23.80) – ’La Dea’s’ diminutive, yet fearless leader Papu Gómez remains at the very heart of the club here in 2019, creating, scoring and setting the tone overall. The 31-year old can play pretty much anywhere in the attack, though is categorized as a midfielder which bodes well for you and your roster due to the offensive upside he provides over many other players in this department. Gomez scored his first two goals of the season in Atalanta’s 4-1 win over Sassuolo, which has the potential to open the floodgates as the Bergamo club hosts Lecce on Sunday. Between his goal and assist potential, and the opponent, 23.80 of your budget is low risk.

Erick Pulgar (MID, Fiorentina, Value 21.20) – Fiorentina picked up their second straight league win last Sunday with a 3-1 thrashing of Milan at San Siro. Pulgar’s 14th minute penalty was his third goal of the young campaign, proving the €10m + bonuses fee shelled out to be well worth it in such short time. More than his goals, however, are the injection of energy on the defensive end he brings to Montella’s midfield, averaging three tackles per game (according to WhoScored). Fiorentina seem to be turning the corner and appear headed in the right direction, which means some of their personnel become solid value plays. Along with last week’s inclusion Castrovilli, the 25-year old Chilean is worth a hard look this weekend at home vs Udinese.

Dejan Kulusevski (MID, Parma, Value 15.90) – Each new season gives way to new, emerging young stars; that appears to be the case with Parma’s Swedish teenager. Kulusevski has started in all six of the Crociati’s matches this season, playing predominately as a right winger. The 19-year old has shown the wherewithal to take on his marker with confidence, often beating him with a dribble (averaging 2.33 per game) before swinging in crosses towards the box. Sitting on 1 goal and 3 assists, Kulusevski seems to be growing a ferocious pace week to week, making it no surprise to see his value climbing all the way to its current 15.90. There is a good chance you have your midfield sorted out by now, but this Swede goes up against 19th place SPAL, so you may want to shift your money around to accommodate this matchup advantage.
