AC Milan managed to get back to winning ways as Hernandez came up big for the Rossoneri, scoring his third goal of the season. However, it certainly wasn’t easy for Pioli’s men, as their lack of composure in the final third was painful to watch this afternoon.
The Rossoneri started the first half really well, looking like a much better team than what we have seen in the last few weeks. After just two minutes, they created their first chance as Piatek did well to find Calhanoglu in the box. The Turkish international struck it well, but the goalkeeper didn’t have to intervene as it went wide.
They continued on the same path, putting pressure on the Parma players, who committed a few mistakes. However, they failed to make the most of their chances, and with a bit more composure they could have been in front very early. Kessie showed signs of improvement as he did well to get a shot away, forcing the goalkeeper to a save after 24 minutes.
However, they didn’t really have many clear-cut chances, as the final touch seemed to be missing. Parma managed to threaten the Rossoneri defence on one occasion, but Romagnoli did well to stop the cross which had Donnarumma beaten. Overall, the first half was positive for Pioli’s men, although the goals are what matter in the end.
The second half picked up where the first left off, as the game continued to be very open. In other words, from a neutral point of view, it was very entertaining, even though Milan dominated possession throughout the game. Despite the end-to-end theme, the Rossoneri managed to assert themselves, forcing Parma to drop down with more and more men as the game went on.
Suso got the first big chance of the second half, as he created some space for himself on the edge of the box. Unfortunately for Milan, his shot ended up just wide of the post. Frustration grew as the chances were created, but not converted. Pioli brought on Leao and Krunic in favour of Piatek and Kessie to try to switch things up.
However, it didn’t change much for the Rossoneri, who continued to miss their chances. It seemed like a draw was on the horizon, but Pioli’s men finally got rewarded for all of their hard work, pushing on in the dying minutes of the game. Calhanoglu played a lovely ball to split the defence, which eventually ended up with Bonaventura.
The hero from last time out forced the goalkeeper to yet another good save. The rebound, however, bounced off a few Parma players and ended up at the feet of Hernandez, who had pushed forward from his left-back position. With a lovely outside of the foot finish, he broke the deadlock in front of the away fans, scoring his third of the season.
Parma weren’t able to find a way back and Milan held onto the three points. After a tough period, it was certainly needed. Now, the Rossoneri have the chance of finishing strong ahead of the Christmas break, ready to start their climb in the league standings. In fact, today’s win took them up to 11th place. Hopefully, they can continue like this.
