Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 18

Atalanta: Mario Pasalic has resumed practicing after sports hernia surgery and might make his return among the call-ups. Matteo Pessina and Matteo Ruggeri are fatigued, Mattia Caldara was a late scratch for the Coppa Italia match due to knee soreness.

Benevento: Pasquale Schiattarella tested positive for COVID. Gianluca Caprari (calf), Iago Falque (calf) and Andres Tello have decent chances to return after being sidelined by muscular problems, like Daam Foulon (knee), instead Gaetano Letizia (thigh) and Gabriele Moncini (ankle) are set to miss another one. Luca Caldirola (knee), Alessandro Tuia (groin) and Nicolas Viola are questionable.

Bologna: Lukas Skorupski (hand), Lorenzo De Silvestri (thigh) and Nicola Sansone (hip) are on track to recover, while Gary Medel (calf) is iffy. Ibrahima Mbaye (thigh) remains sidelined.

Cagliari: Nahitan Nandez will serve the second game of his suspension. Ragnar Klavan might return after COVID; while Andrea Carboni is still positive. Paolo Faragò has been dealing with a thigh bruise for some time.

Crotone: Arkadiusz Reca is suspended. Salvatore Molina will miss a month with a fractured humerus. Ahmad Benali and Luca Cigarini are questionable due to calf issues like in recent weeks. Luca Marrone is nursing a thigh pull.

Fiorentina: German Pezzella bowed out last week and the tests ruled out strains, so he should be good to go. Franck Ribery could be available following a knee sprain, while Borja Valero is being evaluated after subbing off midweek.

Genoa: Goran Pandev could be back after some muscle fatigue. Luca Pellegrini, Francesco Cassata and Vittorio Parigini are expected to stay on the mend with their thigh strains. Cristian Zapata (calf) will need more time.

Inter: Matteo Darmian is recovering from a hip contusion, while Stefano Sensi might have picked up a calf injury before the Coppa Italia match. Andrea Pinamonti and Matias Vecino keep dealing with ankle problems.

Juventus: Weston McKennie (hip) and Federico Chiesa (ankle) should be cleared after getting hurt in the past game. Alex Sandro and Juan Cuadrado (COVID) will be late calls, significantly fewer chances for Matthijs De Ligt. Paulo Dybala is out with a knee sprain.

Lazio: Senad Lulic is available for the first time in almost a year after an ankle surgery and some setbacks. Joaquin Correa is poised to be a bench option after dealing with a calf strain. Thomas Strakosha (thigh) and Mohamed Fares (calf) will stay on the shelf and are joined by Danilo Cataldi because of a thigh problem.

Milan: Rafael Leao is disqualified. Alexis Saelemaekers and Ismael Bennacer will be late calls as they are nearing a full recovery from thigh strains. Matteo Gabbia is nursing a knee sprain. Ante Rebic and Rade Krunic have had COVID for about ten days. Theo Hernandez and Hakan Calhanoglu missed practice on Friday. 

Napoli: Giovanni Di Lorenzo is disqualified. Kostas Manolas pulled a muscle in his thigh, but he has been able to practice so the problem is not super severe. Kevin Malcuit is fatigued. Victor Osimhen has not cleared the quarantine.

Parma: Hernani is banned. Alberto Grassi (shoulder), Juraj Kucka (thigh), Riccardo Gagliolo (thigh) and Simone Iacoponi (calf) have some a shot, Vincent Laurini (thigh) and Yann Karamoh (thigh) are unlikely. while Botond Balogh is questionable with a sore tendon. Lautaro Valenti will miss significant time with a high grade thigh strain, while Yordan Osorio’s injury is similar but less severe.

Roma: Pedro will return after being sidelined by a thigh strain, while Antonio Mirante, Riccardo Calafiori and Davide Santon are out because of a similar issue. Federico Fazio (knee) is back as well.  

Sampdoria: Jakub Jankto is suspended. Alex Ferrari is trying to shake off a thigh strain, Lorenzo Tonelli is banged up.

Sassuolo: Pedro Obiang was sent off in the past game. Mehdi Bourabia is dealing with a thigh issue, Manuel Locatelli and Jeremy Toljan foot contusions. Domenico Berardi (thigh) will skip the second in a row.

Spezia: M’Bala Nzola is likely to be sidelined for a couple of matches with an ankle sprain. Matteo Ricci, Simone Bastoni and Gennaro Acampora have turned negative, but they might need more time before being called up. Kevin Agudelo and Salvador Ferrer are fatigued. Jeroen Zoet is nearing a return.

Torino: Tomas Rincon is suspended. Mergim Vojvoda will miss time with a sprained shoulder. Federico Bonazzoli should be good to go after some muscle fatigue.

Udinese: Gerard Deulofeu could be ready to come back from his foot edema. Bram Nuytinck (calf) is unlikely. Fernando Forestieri and Stefano Okaka will be back in late January form their thigh injuries.

Verona: Darko Lazovic will be available following a small calf problem, but they lost Federico Ceccherini to a nagging injury. Ronaldo Vieira, Andrea Favilli (thigh) and Miguel Veloso (calf) will need some more time.
