Time for Junior Firpo to take centre-stage with Barcelona

Although there have been suggestions that Barcelona dropped two points in Dortmund during the week, the truth is that a point and a clean sheet is a positive for a club that have been shipping goals.

In the so-called ‘group of death,’ Barca are no better or worse off than they were before the kick-off in Germany.

FC Barcelona assessing left back options

La Liga champions FC Barcelona are set to be busy in this summer’s transfer market with potentially over €20m being spent by the Catalan side to strengthen their options ahead of 2019-20.

La Blaugrana have already secured the signing of Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong,  and they have been heavily linked with a move for his team mate Matthijs De Ligt, as well as a second bid for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

However, manager Ernesto Valverde is also set to look at other areas of his squad that need attention in the coming weeks and months.

Junior Firpo injury has hit Real Betis hard

It is hard to believe that Junior Firpo only made his first-team debut for Real Betis a year ago, with his rise to prominence so rapid that his absence has now been felt hard by the club. The Dominican-born wing-back has already racked up 32 first-team appearances, with his place in the starting line-up without question.

The 22-year-old has also become a key part of the Spain Under-21 side and there have been strong calls for him to be in contention for Luis Enrique’s senior squad at La Roja. He has a €50m release clause at the club and has been linked with moves to both Real Madrid and Manchester City. Continue reading
