After a very rough start, Chievo have decided to sack coach Lorenzo D’Anna and hire Gian Piero Ventura, who agreed to a two-year contract. A club legend, D’Anna was promoted from the youth team with three games to go last season, when the team was in hot waters and Rolando Maran was fired. The Flying Donkeys won all the remaining fixtures, securing the Serie A stay, however they have struggled mightily so far this season.

Chievo have announced on Tuesday that Lorenzo D’Anna will remain at the helm and signed a one-year extension with an optional second one. D’Anna, who was coaching the youth team, was promoted in late April to replace Rolando Maran. He won three games in a row, securing the Flying Donkey’s permanence in Serie A.
D’Anna is a club legend and he collected over 350 appearances in 13 years as a player. After he retired, he immediately joined the management as an assistant to the sporting director Giovanni Sartori and later on was chosen to lead the U19 team. In 2013, he tried to move to the pros and was appointed by Sudtirol in Lega Pro, but he lasted only five games. He then returned to his previous job. Continue reading
