Uruguayan Martín Cáceres played on loan for Juventus during the 2009-10 season. He returned for a second loan spell during the 2011-12 season. His move to the Bianconeri became permanent in May 2012. He is a versatile player and has played as a right-back, centre-back and left-back throughout his career. He was mostly used as a centre-back by Juventus during the 2012-13 season and played on the right side of a three-man defensive line during the 2013-14 season. He has been mostly used as a cover for defender Andrea Barzagli. With Barzagli's injury and the suspension or injury to other players, Cáceres managed to start in 13 league matches. He adds both experience and versatility to Uruguay's defensive line.
