Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero became a hero at the end of the 2011-12 season with his goals helping propel the Citizens to a historic league title. Aguero scored in the season's finale to ensure City did not yield the title to city rivals Manchester United. Following the departure of his compatriot Carlos Tevez, Aguero became City's undisputed leader in attack. Injuries hampered his 2013-14 league campaign but he was still prolific. He scored 17 goals in 23 league appearances and provided 6 assists. He did not live up to expectations during World Cup 2014 despite Argentina reaching the Final. Aguero's performances were affected by his lack of fitness as well as the fact he did not fully recover from injuries he suffered throughout the 2013-14 club season.
