Chelsea have all but wrapped up the Premier League and a win on Monday against West Bromwich Albion will make it official, depending on Tottenham’s result against Manchester United on Sunday. After five games they looked to be well short of what is required, however, they turned it all around in great style and are all set to pick up their fifth title.

Chelsea had a strong start to their campaign with three wins in August, however, September was not so good. Their first match that month was a 2-2 draw with Swansea, followed up by a 2-1 loss home to Liverpool and a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal. Their fans were left wondering if they were in for another disappointing season like the season before where they finished in tenth place.

They really found their form in October, winning four out of four, scoring eleven and conceding none. Diego Costa was scoring regularly, and with Eden Hazard finding the form which saw Chelsea fork out a reported £32 million. They just went from strength to strength and the next couple fo months saw them record comprehensive victories over Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United and it was that run where they won thirteen league matches on the spin that saw them enter 2017 at the top of the table with a six-point lead over Liverpool.

Their first match in 2017 was away to Tottenham Hotspur and a double from Dele Alli seen the points remain at White Hart Lane and give the trailing clubs some hope that they could catch the runaway leaders. However, they bounced back from that defeat in style and went on an unbeaten run until Crystal Palace beat them 2-1 on the 1st of April. In that run they had six wins and two draws and even after the aforementioned defeat, they still had a seven-point lead over their nearest challengers who were now Tottenham Hotspur.

They are in great form now as the season comes to an end and have scored 10 in their last 3. There is still some unfinished business this season as they gear up for the cup final where they will face old rivals Arsenal. After last season’s miserable performances under Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea fans now have a new found belief in their team and after their mixed start, they will be delighted with the way it has panned out. Now they are looking to the future and a return to the Champions League.
