Best Goalkeepers – Premier League – Round 38

kasper

It’s the final weekend of the Premier League this weekend and there is still a huge amount to play for. A clean sheet may be the difference between a top four finish and a Europa League place and we take a look at five goalkeepers who are in with a shout of keeping the ball out of the net. Simon Mingolet from Liverpool, Petr Cech of Arsenal, Wilfredo Caballero of Manchester City, Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester City and Thibaut Courtois of Chelsea all feature.

Simon Mingolet – Liverpool

A win for Liverpool against Middlesbrough on Sunday will be enough to guarantee a top four finish and as they come up against a team who haven’t won away from home since a 2-1 win over Sunderland in August, a win without conceding looks more than likely for the home side. Simon Mingolet has kept 8 clean sheets in 27 starts and should be in line for his ninth clean sheets this weekend. He is valued at 8M and his price/performance ratio is 5.1.

Petr Cech – Arsenal

A 2-0 home win over Sunderland was enough to keep Arsenal’s hopes of a top-four finish alive. They face Everton this weekend and nothing less than a win will do. Petr Cech has been consistent enough this season with 12 clean sheets in 34 starts. He can be in your fantasy football team for 10.5M. He has accumulated a total of 50 points and his price/performance ratio is 5.4.

Wilfredo Caballero – Manchester City

Manchester City moved up to third in the Premier League with a 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night. It’s still not over as far as a top four finish goes and they need a point against Watford on Sunday to guarantee a Champions League place. Wilfredo Caballero has started just 15 matches this season and has kept 6 clean sheets. He is valued at 6.5M and has a price/performance ratio of 6.6.

Kasper Schmeichel – Leicester City

Leicester City’s recovery has been impressive and they could move up as high as eighth with a win over Bournemouth at home this weekend. Kasper Schmeichel has kept 8 clean sheets this season and with 2 in his last 3, he is looking more like the keeper he was showing last season. He has just 13 points so far this season, and his price/performance ratio of 2.0 has a great chance of rising this weekend.

Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea

Thibaut Courtois has been tremendous for Chelsea this season and with 95 points accumulated so far, he is the Premier Division’s top performing keeper. Chelsea will look to round off a great season with a home win over Sunderland and Courtois should start and more than likely keep his 17th clean sheet of the season. He is valued at 13M and his price/performance ratio is 7.8.
