Former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp recently revealed he would consider joining any club with an exciting project when he’s ready to return from his sabbatical. The German coach, 48, ended a successful seven-year spell at the Westfalenstadion this summer, and was taking a short break before deciding upon his next adventure.

A big fan of the Premier League, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal were being named as potential destinations for Klopp, but he admitted that his next club doesn’t have to be a top-four side. The 48-year-old has 14 years of managerial experience, but has only managed two teams (FSV Mainz and Borussia Dortmund). He’s a loyal coach who favours a long-term project, which means a wide range of sides could interest him.

“I don’t know where I’ll be heading to, but right now that’s not important for me.  I know that if I will have the right feeling it will be a wonderful next chapter. You will see what happens and I find it exciting right now not knowing what will happen next. It doesn’t have to be an absolute top club. There are other good projects that are exciting, (teams) who need help,” he said.

Klopp was subject to a lot of interest from other clubs this summer, but is biding his time before making a return. His spell at Dortmund led to him winning two league titles, and as a result many thought the talented coach would only be interested in a role that would likely see him in the upper reaches of the respective domestic table. However, his future club remains a real mystery considering he isn’t ruling out any type of side.

It’s unknown if the ex-Dortmund man would join a club mid-season should the respective incumbent be sacked, but he’s expected to move away from the German Bundesliga and will be paying a lot of attention to movements in the Premier League. With the English top flight so sack-happy each season, Klopp could have his pick of sides over the course of the campaign.

The more high-profile managers under pressure in the Premier League early into the new season are Brendan Rodgers (Liverpool), Jose Mourinho (Chelsea) and Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham), which would be attractive propositions given the resources. With how lucrative the Premier League is becoming, big-name players look to continue the trend of coming to England, and Klopp appears likely to follow. But where will his next destination be?
