Best Fantasy Footballers – Defenders – Serie A – Week 35

Caldara-sito-Atalanta

Juventus provided us with a masterclass in defending during the week in the Champions League, however, it’s back to Serie A action and we study five defenders that should be earning your fantasy football team some points this weekend. Crotone defender Gianmarco Ferrari, Alex Sandro and Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus, Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli and Mattia Caldara of Atalanta all feature.

Gianmarco Ferrari – Crotone

Crotone are unbeaten in 5 matches coming into this weekend’s action, however, they are still in the relegation zone and with a must-win match against already relegated Pescara, they should be good enough to take 3 points. Gianmarco Ferrari has started every league match for Crotone and although he is on -7 for the season so far, he may well be part of a defence that keeps a clean sheet here. He is valued at 8M and with 3 goals so far, it may be worth taking a chance on him.

Alex Sandro – Juventus

Alex Sandro has started 24 matches for Juventus this season and as they close in on the title, he is sure to start this weekend. He has racked up 61 points so far this season and with 2 goals, 4 assists and 11 clean sheets, he must come under serious consideration. He can be in your side for 10M and his price/performance ratio is 6.0.

Giorgio Chiellini – Juventus

Juventus need just one point from their home tie against Torino to wrap up their sixth successive Serie A title. Giorgio Chiellini has been instrumental in the defence that has conceded just 22 goals this season and with 2 goals, 2 assists and 10 clean sheets in 20 starts, he is one player that should come under serious consideration for your team. He can be in your side for 9.5M and his price/performance ratio is 5.7.

Kalidou Koulibaly – Napoli

With just four matches left, Napoli have a healthy seven point lead over Lazio in fourth. A win here against Cagliari (who themselves are safe from relegation and unable to reach the European slots) would go a long way in securing Champions League football next season. Kalidou Koulibaly has started 25 matches for Napoli this season and has accumulated 48 points, which is a phenomenal return for a player who is valued at just 2.5M.

Mattia Caldara – Atalanta

Atalanta are having a terrific season and as they look to tie up fifth place, a win against Udinese would certainly help matters. Mattia Caldara leads the way for defenders in fantasy football Serie A, mainly down to his 7 goals in 26 starts. He can be in your side for 4M and his price/performance ratio is a whopping 20.3.
