The Premier League is over but Rumours for next season are just Beginning

The English Premier League 2016/17 is finally over as Chelsea lifted the trophy for the fifth time in the history of the league. However, rumours surrounding the next season are only starting to pick up. Now that the league is over, managers and owners are looking for new players to strengthen their teams and disgruntled players are looking for a profitable switch. In light of the situation, let’s now take a look at some of the top transfer gossip that is circulating around.

Gylfi Sigurdsson Approached by Everton

Atletico Madrid may just beat Everton in signing Sandro Ramirez (FW) from Malaga, but The Toffees are rumoured to be hatching a plan for signing in midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea with a whopping £25 million deal. In light of the recent confusion that is surrounding Ross Barkley’s future with the club, the report actually may hold some serious credence.

Demarai Gray Approached by Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham

The 20-year old striker is in hot demand right now as three big guns of the Premier League are hoping to sign Demarai Gray from Leicester City. However, rumours are suggesting that Liverpool is ahead of the competition thanks to Jurgen Klopp and his £12 million deal for the young striker. We will find out for sure when the transfers begin in July.

Chelsea Could be Signing Tiemoue Bakayoko

Bakayoko has quite openly admitted that he wouldn’t be joining PSG as he considers joining a club that has finished behind his current club to be “a step backwards.” This has led Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool to approach the 22-year old star midfielder from Monaco with offers of their own. However, if the rumours are to be believed then it is very likely that Bakayoko will be joining Premier League Champions Chelsea for at least £43million. Besides, it also makes sense that a player who is so particular about his club’s rankings would join the champion team in the league.

Michael Keane to be Approached by Former Club Manchester United

Central Defender Michael Keane was sold off to Burnley by Manchester United back in early 2015 and that’s a decision that they are probably regretting as they try to get the defender back on their side to strengthen their defence. Sean Dyche (Burnley manager) on the other hand, is quite confident that Keane will be playing for Burnley next season. However, he did hint that the club might be open to offers if they are good enough, when he mentioned that the central defender will continue to play for the club, “if nothing happens that’s suitable for us.”

Is Philippe Coutinho Staying with Liverpool?

Although all rumours and reports are suggesting that Coutinho is planning a move to Barcelona, the man himself has expressed his wishes to remain at Liverpool by saying that he is a celebrity here and everybody loves him, but if he moves to another club he will become “just another player.” Jurgen Klopp has also supported his comments by mentioning that both Coutinho and his family love it at Liverpool and no one needs to force him to stay. Nevertheless, those rumours are just as relentless as ever and if the transfer does happen, it wouldn’t be the first time that a player would be making the switch after trying to disarm all rumours.

The Premier League might be over, but the action never ends for the football fan, especially since the grand final of the UEFA Champions League is coming up next month in-between Juventus and Real Madrid. The Confederations Cup 2017 in Russia is also coming up later in June so there’s still plenty to get excited about.
