Italian Football Predictions – Round 13

Fiorentina-Verona: victory keeps eluding the Viola, but at least they have shared the spoils in the last two home games against Genoa and Sassuolo. The Scaligeri surprisingly came a cropper versus Sampdoria after a positive streak and have been pretty strong away, but they do not always get up when facing midtable teams: 1-1.

Sampdoria-Crotone: the Blucerchiati returned to winning ways after six rounds midweek by blitzing Verona even though they had lost in four of the previous five matches. The Squali have gotten points twice in a row for the first time in season thanks to a win over Spezia and a draw in Udinese. However, the home team tends to be streaky: 2-1.

Parma-Juventus: another draw for the Ducali on Wednesday, against Cagliari, the sixth one in past eight rounds, where they have both won (vs Genoa) and lost (against Roma) just once. The Bianconeri are coming their sixth draw in the season, against Atalanta, but a little different from the previous ones. They will have to come to play but have rarely had two missteps in a row: 1-3.

Torino-Bologna: Roma handed the Granata their third defeat in a row, accompanied by another series of unfortunate events, as it has often happened to them so far. They have won just once in the season. After two romps at the hands of Inter and Roma, the Felsinei took home a gritty 2-2 in Spezia and could have easily won: 2-3.

Benevento-Genoa: the Sanniti are trending in the right direction as they got upended just once in the past five rounds, versus Sassuolo, nabbing three draws (Juventus, Parma and Lazio) and downing Fiorentina. However, some good signals from the Grifone too, which could have easily bested Milan midweek, but instead collected the second tie in the past three rounds. The road team has not won since the opener: 1-1.

Cagliari-Udinese: the Sardinians have not prevailed in five matches, but have equalized in three of the last four, with Spezia, Verona and Parma. The Friulani’s run got slowed by Crotone after three straight wins, so they are in better form coming into the fixture, but only top teams have been able to best the Sardinians at home: 2-2.

Inter-Spezia: five consecutive wins for the Beneamata, with the last one coming against the best opponent, Napoli, despite a not-so-great display. The previously sunk Torino, Sassuolo, Bologna and Cagliari. The Aquilotti have fallen back to earth as they have not been successful in five tilts, where they have shared the spoils with Atalanta, Cagliari and Bologna in a wild match and were edged by Lazio and Crotone. The Nerazzurri have found consistency and tend to take care of business: 3-1.

Sassuolo-Milan: just one W for the Neroverdi in the last four contests, over Benevento, while they tied with Roma and Fiorentina away and got got at home against Inter. Two draws in a row for the Rossoneri, against Parma and Genoa, which were dealt a new injury blow as Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss few more matches: 1-1.

Atalanta-Roma: the Bergamaschi are rounding back into form as they gave fits to Juventus away after trouncing Fiorentina, which was their lone victory in Serie A play in a while. However, the Giallorossi are going strong too as they are coming two comfortable victories over Bologna and Torino, re-gaining some rhythm after a two-match swoon: 2-2.

Lazio-Napoli: neither team approach the crunch game in great shape as the Biancocelesti have gotten just one W in the last four rounds, against Spezia, as they were torpedoed by Udinese at Verona at home and drew with Benevento away. The Partenopei unluckily lost to Inter midweek and have to deal with a slew of major absences: 0-0.
