Having secured a convincing victory over Alaves, Real Madrid dominate the top performers from the weekend’s action – bagging five of the 11 positions across the team.

Check out which top performers from the Bernabau, and the rest of the league, earned a spot in our team of the week.

Keylor Navas, Real Madrid – seven points

The Costa Rican keeper has received his fair share of criticism this season with Madrid having had a bad start to the season but he showed what he can do at his very best this weekend as he kept a clean sheet in his side’s 4-0 home win over Alaves.

The 31-year-old has kept just five clean sheets on his way to 17 points. With his side seeing an upturn in form, he’ll be hoping to see a few more head his way.

Hugo Mallo, Celta Vigo – seven points
The right back played a valuable role in Celta’s convincing 2-0 home victory over Eibar this season, not only helping his team secure a clean sheet for the fifth time this season but also by assisting the second goal of the tie, teeing up Maxi Gomez to seal the three points.

Mallo has 10 points from 22 appearances this season, as his side continue to pressurise for a spot in the Europa League.

Bustinza, Leganes – seven points

The 26-year-old played a valuable role in his team’s tight 0-0 draw with strugglers Las Palmas as they secured a point that kept them in a comfortable spot 11 points above the drop zone.

The right back has secured 13 points this campaign – over half of which came this weekend – and he will be hoping that performances like today’s will help secure him a more regular position within the Leganes back line.

Daniele Bonera, Villarreal – five points

The Milan cult hero has been a valuable member of the Villarreal squad this season and his endeavours saw the team keep a clean sheet in his side’s tight 1-0 victory over Getafe.

Now 36, the Italian doesn’t always appear for the Yellow Submarine – having made just nine appearances – but has proven a dependable defender when called upon, having contributed to four clean sheets.

Theo Hernandez, Real Madrid – five points

Just 20 years old, the French left back is slowly beginning to make a name for himself at Real Madrid.

With Theo having made eight appearances for the club this campaign, his assured appearance against Alaves suggests that there might be a bright future for the burgeoning talent at the Bernabau.

Gareth Bale, Real Madrid – six points

The Welshman has had a difficult season due to persistent injury problems but has given some impressive performances since returning to fitness.

His goal just after half time saw him hit seven goals, an assist and 32 points in the 15 games that he has played in as his team have rediscovered their form.

Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona – six points

Coutinho is yet to light La Liga on fire since his blockbuster move from Liverpool but his first Barcelona goal in their domination of Girona will have been a huge relief for him.

The little Brazilian magician has now hit 60 points for the season and will be hoping this is the moment his Barca career truly ignites.

Casemiro, Real Madrid – eight points

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder has become a critical member of the Madrid team and put in a stellar performance again this weekend.

His clean sheet meant that he has now contributed to seven so far this season, as well as scoring four goals and three assists alongside this.

Lucas Vasquez, Real Madrid – 10 points

The Spaniard contributed an assist for the third Madrid goal, scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, on what was his 80th league appearance for the club.

He’s been a fantastic creative force in the Madrid midfield this season, contributing seven assists and a further three goals – despite having started only nine of his 22 league appearances.

Luis Suarez, Barcelona – 18 points

After a disappointing start to 2017/18, Suarez has truly blown up – becoming a vital member of a Barca side that have dominated the Premier League thus far.

The Uruguayan bagged a hattrick and an assist as his team hammered Girona to retain a seven point lead at the summit of the La Liga table.

Antoine Griezmann, Atletico Madrid – 16 points

Griezmann grabbed a hattrick in his side’s 5-2 demolition of Sevilla to put in one of his biggest performances of campaign.

The Frenchman has eleven goals and seven assists in his 22 league appearances and performances like his one on the weekend exemplifies how valuable he remains to the Atletico story.
