Some tough Ligue 1 fixtures greet us this weekend, with fixtures that could influence both the battles for relegation and the Champions League spots.

With that in mind, we take a look at the players that are likely to shine across some of these big fixtures – with stars from PSG, Monaco and Nice filling a number of the berths.

Benjamin Lecomte, Montpellier – 71 points

Up against a Lyon side that have lost three and drawn two of their last five games, the Montpellier goalkeeper will be keen to add to what has been an impressive campaign.

Having conceded just 21 goals, keeping 12 clean sheets in the process, the 26-year-old French keeper has been vital to a good season that sees his side sit fifth in Ligue 1.

Arnaud Souquet, Nice – 12 points

The Nice backline has had its fair share of issues this season but a match up against an abject Lille should enable them to get some much needed points on the board.

Sousquet has arguably been one of the stand out performers of their defenders, with five clean sheets from 18 appearances and the weekend could be a good opportunity for him to build on his present haul.

Adil Rami, Marseille – 55 points

Despite last week’s demolition at the hands of PSG in Le Classique, the Marseille back line has largely been an uncompromising prospect for the opposition, with thanks in the most part to the 13 clean sheets he’s contributed towards.

A tough prospect lies ahead with a visit from Nantes but Rami and Co. will be confident they can get back to winning ways.

Kamil Glik, Monaco – 53 points

The Polish international has played a valuable role this season as Monaco look to secure what would be a more than respectable second place finish when you bear in mind the number of stars lost over the summer.

Glik has secured 11 clean sheets this season and he will prove vital as his side face a testing visit from Bordeaux.

Dani Alves, PSG – 48 points

The Brazilian elder statesman has enjoyed a successful maiden campaign in Ligue 1, playing a valuable role in both the attacking and defensive success of the side.

With the league leaders facing relegation candidates Troyes, he will be expectant that he can build upon both his five assists and ten clean sheets.

Angel Di Maria, PSG – 61 points

The Argentine playmaker has been a vital cog in the league leaders’ attacking exploits and will be one of the players that will be expected to step up to the mark following an injury to Neymar.

With seven goals and six assists, he’ll be certain he can build upon this on Saturday.

Alassane Plea, Nice – 37 points

Plea’s Nice host a Lille side that face a serious threat of relegation this campaign and the prospect of playing the tricky winger will not be one that they are relishing.

With six goals and three assists in 24 games, the Frenchman has played a valuable role for his side and will likely be at the heart of their best attacking play.

Marcos Lopes, Monaco – 58 points

Having spent last season on loan at Lille, Lopes has seized the opportunity presented by the summer exodus of players, playing a valuable attacking role for the side.

With seven goals and four assists this season, the 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder could well be garnering the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Yannis Salibur, Guingamp – 28 points

Three goals, three assists and seven clean sheets exemplify why he is a valuable all-round player for the side and he’ll be vital as they challenge Angers.

Guingamp sit 10th in the division and it’s testament to the performance levels of the 27-year-old Frenchman that they sit in such a positive position.

Edinson Cavani, PSG – 97 points

With Neymar out for an extended period as a result of injury, the Uruguayan centre forward will be keen to leave his print on the upcoming match.

Having netted 24 goals in 24 games, Cavani will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a team that has already conceded 36 goals this season.

Mario Balotelli, Nice – 40 points

With Nice going a bit of the boil this season, it seems somewhat unlikely that they will be able to keep ahold of the Italian come the end of the campaign.

Balotelli has 40 points thanks to 13 goals from 17 appearances and will be a favourite to hit the net against a poor Lille side.
