La Liga Team of the Week

jordi-alba

Another week of La Liga action has passed by, with many stars delivering first class performances as the battles for European football and survival begin to heat up.

Check out the top point scorers from the latest round of action!

Bono, Girona – 14 points

The Moroccan goalkeeper lands a spot in our XI for the second consecutive week as his side hit a fourth win in the last five games.

His clean sheet in the 2-0 win over La Coruna was his tenth in 20 outings this season as his side continued their pursuit of European football.

Juanpe, Girona – nine points

Girona’s fine form has seen them truly begin to turn up the heat on sixth placed Villarreal, with their well drilled back line playing a huge role in that success.

The 26-year-old hit 45 points for the season, with him winning 10 clean sheets in 25 appearances this season.

Jordi Alba, Barcelona – seven points

Barcelona ran out comfortable 2-0 winners in their away trip to rock bottom Malaga as they continue their fine season.

Alba now sits on 95 points for the campaign, thanks to his seven assists and 16 clean sheets.

Gimenez, Atletico Madrid – seven points

The Uruguayan defender earned seven points this weekend as he secured a 12 clean sheet in 19 appearances.

Now on 61 points for the season, his form has been integral to what has been a more than respectable season for Los Rojiblancos.

Alvaro G. Soberon, Villarreal – five points

After a couple of disappointing defeats on the bounce, Soberon put in an emphatic performance at the back as his side turned around their small drop in form.

The 2-0 victory over Las Palmas saw them keep their paper-thin lead over Girona in the table.

Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona – six points

Coutinho has slowly worked his way into the form having become one of the most expensive players in world football in the January transfer window, showing exactly why the Catalan giants were willing to pay the big bucks to secure his talents.

His audacious goal against Malaga was his ninth of the season across the Premier League and La Liga as he hit 68 points for the season.

Angel Correa, Atletico Madrid – six points

The Argentine midfielder helped himself to his seventh goal in 28 appearances this season as he played an important role in their comfortable victory on the weekend.

On 65 points for the season, the 23-uear-old is beginning to deliver on a consistent basis for his compatriot Diego Simeone.

Raul Garcia, Athletic Bilbao – nine points

Bilbao have had something of a hit and miss campaign but their performance against Leganes showed exactly what they can deliver when at their very best.

Garcia’s brace proved decisive in their 2-0 win as he hit seven goals and 44 points.

Geoffrey Kondogbia, Valencia – five points

Another player to hit the team of the week for a consecutive round of fixtures, Kondogbia may just well be showing Inter Milan that it was a mistake to have let him go.

The Frenchman secured two assists against his former club Sevilla as he put in an emphatic performance for the fourth placed team.

Antoine Griezmann, Atletico Madrid – six points

The French striker bagged the opening goal in his side’s 3-0 victory over Celta Vigo as they bounced back from a defeat that has seemingly put an end to their title hopes.

The strike saw him hit 78 points for the season as he hit 16 in 25 for the season.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid – 8 points

Ronaldo continued his fine run of form as he netted both of his side’s goals in their 2-1 victory over Eibar.

His decisive role in the victory saw him hit 18 goals and 79 points for the campaign as he truly put the poor form of the earlier part of the season behind him.
