A goal-filled round is mostly in the books, here is a quick breakdown of the most relevant things that happened in the fantasy world.

Standings implications: Juventus and Napoli go hand-in-hand despite the challenging fixtures. Inter suffered a two-goal comeback by Torino as they inexplicably run out of gas after an hour. Lazio paid the price for a tough schedule and is now in trouble. Fiorentina and Genoa got off to a splendid start. SPAL and Udinese grabbed sweet wins. Cagliari partly bounced back, Frosinone and Bologna sent out pretty worrying signals.

Confirmations: Miralem Pjanic and Giacomo Bonaventura buried gorgeous and difficult goals, Piotr Zielinski slotted in two from distance, while Dries Mertens had the game-winning tap-in against Milan. Mario Mandzukic pounced on a loose ball in the box and his fellow compatriot Ivan Perisic opened the score against Torino with a nice strike. Stefan De Vrij continues to be a menace on set pieces. Leonardo Pavoletti and Mirko Antenucci are assassins against teams with a similar caliber. Marco Benassi, Federico Chiesa and Giovanni Simeone all scored for Fiorentina. Rodrigo De Paul and Domenico Berardi hit the net again, signalling their strong form again. Krzysztof Piatek and Christian Kouame found the target on their Serie A debuts and could turn out to be a very dynamic duo for Genoa.

Flops of the round: Gonzalo Higuain missed a big chance in Naples, Mauro Icardi is still at zero goal, but had an assist in this one. Bologna had another poor offensive showing, with Blerin Dzemaili wasting a massive chance in the first half, while Sampdoria had a little burst in the final portion but to no avail.

Guess who is back: Andrea Belotti had not scored on the road in over a year, while Gerson had bagged his lone two goals of the 2017/2018 season in November, ironically enough against Fiorentina.

Surprise scorers: Davide Calabria beat David Ospina with a powerful cross-shot, Nikola Milenkovic buried his first one in Serie in absolutely spectacular fashion. Soualiho Meitè had scored just one last year between his spells at Monaco and Bordeaux and surprised Inter with a superlative first touch to get past a sliding opponent. Nenad Tomovic outjumped a defender on a corner kick.

Clutch goal of the week: Kevin-Prince Boateng stepped up to the plate and kept his cool from the penalty spot in the very last minute to earn Sassuolo a hard-fought point.
