Juventus great and now club ambassador David Trezeguet talked to Sky yesterday at the opening ceremony of new store in Roma: “We got off to a great start with three wins in a row, proving that the team is focused and eager to achieve its goals, even though it is still early. The coach is doing a good job managing a deep roster, where everybody wants to play and contribute. He is the one calling the shots, as normal. The objectives are very clear and never changed in Juventus’ history: winning every competition they partake to.”

On Cristiano Ronaldo: “I do not need to give him any advice. He is fully aware that this is different league compared to what he saw in England or Spain. He is an incredible player who wants to showcase his skills, he is working with great determination. He is trying to understand his new teammates, the new playing style, coaches and habits. He is a great professional. He will score very soon and will do very well here. A champion of this calibre always tries to score as much as possible and he is working a lot in that regards. He has always bagged loads of goals. He is serene because Juventus are winning.”

On the Ballon d’Or: “France was amazing at the World Cup and proved to be the best team on the pitch. Kylian Mbappè is a fantastic player, he has a great future ahead of him. Griezmann continues to show his value, then surely Cristiano and Luka Modric belong to the group of players that are good for football and could deserve the award. It will be a tough choice.”

On Alessandro Del Piero as a pundit: “He is phenomenal. I listen to him very often. His opinion is beneficial because he knows football, Serie A and Champions League. It is important that a man like that can still give his contribution.”

On the Champions League: “Juventus added important players for this goal. it is not easy considering the competition and how much they invested. Juventus keep growing, it is true that we have not won it in a long time. The club decided to spend big to try to bring it home, but we know that the pitch does the talking. Juventus never backed down from this challenge, it is important for the management, the staff, the players and the fans. It is a difficult objective, but we care about it very much and we proved it with the most recent acquisitions.”

On Claudio Marchisio and Gianluigi Buffon: “Two very important players in the Juventus world left. They proved their value on and off the pitch. They left a mark in the locker room and in the group that will never be forgotten, even though we parted ways. We move on and look forward. They made history with Juventus, we are friends and I wish them well.”

On a young striker that resembles him and Italy: “Even though he is not a Juventus player, I think that Patrick Cutrone is a very interesting player. He needs to gain experience, but he has a lot of desire and he is very important for Italy. They hired a seasoned coach like Roberto Mancini, they are going back to their historical values. I think that they need to return to their usual levels. The fact that important players are coming here means that it is an excellent league and they are an added value. Serie A is returning to what used to be in my playing days and in the 90’s. It is a great league and it is very tough for strikers, but the future is in good hands. Mancini can do terrific job and help Italian football grow.”
