Claudio Marchisio talks Juventus exit

Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio spoke yesterday to Sky Sport and Mediaset just before departing for St. Petersburg to start his new chapter with Zenit and obviously talked about the unceremonious farewell just before the end of the transfer market after 25 years at the club. “Juventus has always been my family. I started in 1993. I have so many emotions inside of me, I can not forget them. I bring with me victories, experience and sacrifice.”

“I have been very lucky, because not only I achieved my dream of playing with Juventus, but I also had the opportunity to win a lot and break few records. That does not happen to everybody. Closing my career here would have certainly been nice, but I was lucky anyway. Juventus must continue on their path, they have such a strong roster that must focus only on winning and they will succeed.”

“What stays with you are not only the emotions or the victories, but the affection and the human relationships, with the city and with the fans, here in Turin, in Italy and in the world. This summer I travelled a little and saw that from the outside and I will cherish that. I will certainly return to Turin, but I do not know if I will re-join Juventus, we will see.”

“My family and I are getting used to this new reality and to the new experience at Zenit and we take off today to live it together. During the negotiation, I had the fortune of getting to know (former Juventus head scout) Javier Ribalta, who convinced me right away. What matters now is getting there and meet the coach and the squad and thank them for this opportunity and keep up with the good work since they are leading the standing.”

“I noticed that the club was well run right since the first day they reached out to me. They have players that I know well like Leandro Paredes, Branislav Ivanovic and Sebastian Driussi, so I will join a tight and experienced group. They have a great structure. They want to return to Champions League and win the champions, this is what made me accept their proposal. I wanted to keep playing and I was eventually looking for an opportunity abroad.”

“The last couple of years have not been easy, but that’s the risk of our job. It is unfortunate that at times I was labelled as injured when I really was not. I was not expecting any particular farewell, there was no need to grand goodbye like a final match, I have no regrets for that. It is now just up to me to start this new adventure, practice like I have always done and prove myself on the pitch.”
