EPL Best XI – Hat-trick hero Hazard

Eden Hazard

The fifth weekend of the 2018-19 Premier League season saw Chelsea and Liverpool maintain their winning starts, while Manchester United picked up their second victory in a row with a 2-1 win over Watford. Let’s take a look at which players stood out to make the EPL Best XI of the Weekend.

GK: Wayne Hennessey, Crystal Palace – seven points
After being deducted two points in each of his last three games, Wayne Hennessey got back on track this weekend by keeping a clean sheet in Crystal Palace’s hard-fought 1-0 win away at Huddersfield.

DF: Kyle Walker, Manchester City – five points
Kyle Walker is a reliable scorer of EPL Fantasy points and Saturday was no different. The Manchester City defender followed up his four points from the Newcastle game with another five points at the weekend in City’s 3-0 win over Fulham.

DF: Nicolas Otamendi, Manchester City – five points
Nicolas Otamendi has struggled for playing time this season but he came into the Manchester City starting XI at the weekend and helped the team keep a clean sheet against Fulham, earning himself five points.

DF: Willy Boly, Wolves – five points
Only eight defenders in the Premier League have picked up more points than Willy Boly (12) this season. The Wolves centre-back added to his tally with five points in the 1-0 win over Burnley on Sunday.

DF: Mamadou Sakho, Crystal Palace – five points
Crystal Palace returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Huddersfield on Saturday. All the talk about Palace going forward revolves around Wilfried Zaha but the presence of Mamadou Sakho at the back cannot be underestimated.

MD: Raheem Sterling, Manchester City – six points
Raheem Sterling has been a steady scorer of EPL Fantasy points in recent seasons and 2018-19 has started exactly the same. He scored his third goal of the campaign in the 3-0 win over Fulham, taking his season tally to 15 points.

MD: Leroy Sane, Manchester City – six points
After an underwhelming start to the season, Leroy Sane made an impression just two minutes into the match against Fulham by scoring the first goal. His reward of six points moves him onto eight points for the season.

MD: Ryan Fraser, Bournemouth – 10 points
Out of absolutely nowhere, Ryan Fraser has suddenly become the fifth-highest scorer of EPL Fantasy points this season. The Bournemouth midfielder scored twice and recorded an assist in the 4-2 win over Leicester, taking him into 18 points for 2018-19. He only earned 32 points in the whole of 2017-18!

MD: Eden Hazard, Chelsea – 14 points
With five goals and two assists, Eden Hazard is the best player in the Premier League so far this season. His hat-trick in Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Cardiff earned him 14 points, meaning he now has 30 points in 2018-19 – more than anybody else in the league.

ST: Marko Arnautovic, West Ham – six points
Marko Arnautovic scored one goal and set up another as West Ham picked up their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory at Everton on Sunday. The Hammers’ talisman now has 14 points this season, 12 more than the club’s second-best points scorer (Pedro Obiang, two points).

ST: Josh King, Bournemouth – six points
Josh King has proven himself to be a decent EPL Fantasy option in recent years. He showed that again this weekend with a goal and an assist in Bournemouth’s 4-2 win against Leicester, earning himself six points.
