Bundesliga Fantasy Game Predictions – Round 6

With thirty-two goals across matchday six, the Bundesliga once again provided match-goers with non-stop action which has seen Borussia Dortmund claim top spot for the time being.

Here’s four games to watch out for this weekend.

Fortuna Düsseldorf vs Schalke 04

Alessandro Schöpf was the hero for Schalke last weekend as his single goal against Mainz clinched the first points of the season for Domenico Tedesco’s Royal Blues. The 2017/18 Bundesliga runners-up have suffered a torrid start to their campaign, but fans will be hoping that their performance last weekend will be enough to spur the Bundesliga club on against North Rhine-Westphalia rivals Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday.

Friedhelm Funkel’s Düsseldorf have suffered two back-to-back defeats and so there probably isn’t a better time for Schalke to head west. Despite a positive start upon their Bundesliga return, Fortuna have lost two of their three home games this season and against a Schalke side who have picked up their first win, it could be a long afternoon for the hosts.

Schalke come into the game with a plethora of injuries, but they should be more than capable of getting the better of Düsseldorf, despite losing their last three away games in the Bundesliga. Expect this to be a close affair but with Schalke edging it late into the second-half.

Borussia Dortmund vs FC Augsburg

Jadon Sancho finally got the call he had been waiting for. The 18-year-old has been called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad and it’s no less than he deserves. With six assists this season in all competitions, the youngster is a nightmare for opposing players while his understanding of the game and brewing relationship with captain Marco Reus is one to behold.

Lucien Favre’s Dortmund come into this game after putting four goals past Bayer Leverkusen in the second-half after finding themselves two down at the break. BVB’s performances in the 45 minutes clearly haven’t been good enough and it’s an area the Swiss tactician is critical of. It’s something they’re looking to prove while the visit of Augsburg on Saturday will be different from anything they’ve seen so far this season.

Winning at both half-time and full-time in seven of their last eight home matches in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund should have no problem in turning over their opponents on Saturday. With 19 goals in their opening six fixtures, it could be a long afternoon for their Bavarian visitors.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Mönchengladbach

Winless in three games in all competitions, Bayern Munich will be looking to make amends for Friday nights defeat against Hertha Berlin. Reports have suggested that there is a rift in the dressing room which have since been squashed by head coach Niko Kovac. Fans of the Bundesliga champions will be expecting a performance at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach, who themselves are in a good vein of form.

The visitors to the Allianz Arena on Saturday have lost just one game in the Bundesliga this season while the summer arrival of Alassane Pléa alongside Belgium international Thorgan Hazard is a partnership that is slowly starting to blossom.

Bayern Munich’s defence will need to be at their best and while it’s suggested they don’t feel the pressure, if they let this game get away from them then the critics will certainly be out regarding the future of Kovac while this fixture is a game they really should be winning.

SC Freiburg vs Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen will certainly be disappointed at throwing away a two-goal lead at home to Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, but their attacking performances have certainly been positive, especially in comparison to their opponents on Sunday.

This should be a game they control and get three points from but a trip to Freiburg is never easy for any team. That said, Heiko Herrlich’s attacking talent on show should prove too much to handle for Christian Streich’s Freiburg while the hosts will look to take advantage of Leverkusen’s midweek Europa League tie.
