Serie A Fantasy Picks – Round 9

Here are the suggested players to select ahead of the next round.

Wojciech Szczesny: Juventus doesn’t have the easiest fixture defensively, going against Serie A’s leading scorer, but they have conceded only against Napoli in their last four games and picking their goalie is generally a sound idea when they play at home.

Cristiano Biraghi: the man of the hour as far as the Italian national team is concerned, he is coming off a glorious week. Fiorentina will host Cagliari, which has scored just once on the road so far, and Biraghi is always good for a bunch of crosses and shots throughout the 90 minutes.

Lorenzo De Silvestri: he should have shaken off the muscular problems that have hampered him lately. Torino will face Bologna, which are improving at home but are generally not very explosive. The Granata have been solid defensively lately.

Pawel Jaroszynski: Chievo have been poor so far, but they could get a boost from the new hire. He has been unable to get consistent playing time, but that could change under Gian Piero Ventura, considering also some injuries. Atalanta have found the target just once in their last six matches.

Gregoire Defrel: he has been the most prolific Sampdoria striker so far and Sassuolo have not exactly been stingy in the back this season. He will also go against his former team.

Jordan Veretout: he has picked either a goal or an assist in the two home games he has featured in after the initial suspension and he has been the engine that makes Fiorentina work.

Suso: he has picked up 14 bonus points in the last two games, thanks to a brace and a hat-trick of assists. The match-up is not cozy, but he is in rare form.

Miha Zajc: Empoli have a crucial game coming up in Frosinone. So far he has been unlucky when finishing and he has hit the post four times already, more than everybody in the league. Perhaps a date with the worst defense will help find the first goal of the season.

Edin Dzeko: Roma have netted two or more goals in every home fixture and will square off against a limping SPAL team that has lost four in a row, giving up nine goals in this stretch. As the fulcrum of the Giallorossi offence, he will be in a good spot on Saturday. Stephan El Shaarawy would be a decent alternative if Eusebio Di Francesco went deep into his rotations.

Cristiano Ronaldo: he has collected extra points in the last five showings, either turning it in or setting up his teammates. Genoa’s back-line has been very porous so far and Milan Juric doesn’t have a magic wand.

Arkadiusz Milik: the injury to Lorenzo Insigne opens up minutes up front for him, Dries Mertens and Simone Verdi. Udinese have lost three matches in a row, conceding twice in all of them.
