Standings implications: Juventus continue to roll and toppled Fiorentina, but Napoli outlasted Atalanta away. Roma showed great character against and the big match of the round ended in a 2-2 draw. Milan put together a gritty comeback against Parma: a valuable result that allowed them to leapfrog Lazio, which got halted by Chievo. Sampdoria finally got a win trouncing Bologna, which are officially in trouble. SPAL and Empoli shared the spoils in a very well played game, similarly to Frosinone and Cagliari. Torino downed Genoa with two quick goals at the end of the first half, while Sassuolo-Udinese was scoreless.

Confirmations: Fabio Quagliarella is scorching and bagged a brace on Saturday, while Francesco Caputo scored his sixth goal of the season in Ferrara. The top dogs delivered again: Cristiano Ronaldo drilled a penalty, Ciro Immobile punished the Flying Donkeys and Mauro Icardi does not need much room to score these days. Patrick Cutrone continues to be a terror when he gets playing time and Franck Kessie was true from the penalty spot and Fabian Ruiz’s rise continues. Roberto Inglese buried a majestic header and Duvan Zapata was clutch in front of the goal. Andrea Belotti this time did not miss from the penalty spot and Christian Kouame stayed hot with a point-blank finish in that fixture. Aleksandar Kolarov successfully stepped up to the plate versus Inter for his third goal of the season: a great tally for a defender.

Surprise scorers: Giorgio Chiellini had not found the target in over two years in Serie A. Andrea Poli had his last goal in February. Francesco Cassata made the most of his start against Cagliari and found his second ever goal in Serie A. Cristian Ansaldi beat the goalie with an impressive strike from distance.

Guess who is back: Jasmin Kurtic’s lengthy absence from the box scores was mostly caused by an injury and he rectified that with two sweet goals against Empoli. Gaston Ramirez capitalized on his recent good run with a clinical finish versus Bologna, where also Dennis Praet and Karol Linetty, whose precious contribution usually does not show up in the scoresheet, bagged their first one of the season. Rade Krunic usually has a penchant for scoring, but he had not hit the net since the opener. Rodrigo Bentancur had his last one six weeks ago. Diego Farias broke out of a drought that had been going on for almost a year. Sergio Pellissier is an ageless wonder. Cengiz Under atoned for the ridiculous miss against Real Madrid with a stunning strike in the Inter clash.

Flops of the round: Fiorentina’s attack again had finishing problems as they could have easily stayed in the game longer against Juventus with better aim. Sassuolo was unable to take advantage of the home match-up versus Udinese.

Clutch goal: Arkadiusz Milik needed just few minutes to win it late against Atalanta.
