Fantasy La Liga picks for the coming weekend

Defender – Yuri Berchiche (Athletic Bilbao) – 3.0 million

Bilbao’s left-back Yuri is a great option this weekend at a budget price. Yuri is a regular starter for Gaizka Garitano’s side and has picked up 20 points this season so far. Yuri also has one goal to his name so he has shown he can offer something going forward too.

Defender – Yeray Alvarez (Athletic Bilbao) – 2.0 million

Completing our trio of Athletic Bilbao selections for this weekend is Yeray, the centre-back who has started 18 games in La Liga this season. Yeray has earned a total of 23 points so far. At a very cheap price of 2.0 million, it’s hard to ignore Yeray as an option this weekend against a struggling Eibar team.

Defender – Djene (Getafe) – 5.5 million

Getafe’s centre-back Djene is my next choice in defence. Getafe have the third-best defensive record in La Liga, and the joint-best home defensive record with only seven goals conceded at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Getafe are at home to Rayo Vallecano this weekend who have only managed seven goals in their 11 away games this term.

Defender – Damian Suarez (Getafe) – 7.5 million

Damian Suarez might be a little more pricey at 7.5 million but the Getafe right-back has earned 33 points in 23 starts this season. I fancy Getafe to keep another clean sheet against Rayo Vallecano this weekend and that is why I’ve selected two Getafe defenders.

Midfielder – Angel Correa (Atletico Madrid) – 7.5 million

Angel Correa is Atletico Madrid’s highest scoring midfielder in fantasy football this season with 29 points. Atletico are at home to this season’s underperformers Villarreal so it’s a real chance for Correa to get some more points on the board.

Midfielder – Thomas Lemar (Atletico Madrid) – 6.0 million

Diego Simeone signed Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco last summer and the French international has amassed a total of 27 points in 16 starts for Atletico. He will be hoping to get back in the starting lineup for this weekend’s fixture with Villarreal.

Midfielder – Pablo Sarabia (Sevilla) – 7.0 million

Sevilla’s Pablo Sarabia has enjoyed a fantastic season-to-date. The 26-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder has scored nine goals and provided eight assists giving him an impressive total of 57 fantasy football points this season. He will be up against Barcelona this weekend and I’m expecting Sarabia to thrive under the spotlight.

Midfielder – Jony (Alaves) – 5.0 million

Alaves are at home to Celta Vigo this weekend. Celta are flirting with relegation this season and Alaves have only lost one home game all season. Jony, in particular, has enjoyed a fruitful campaign in midfield for Alaves with a nice return of 39 points for a price of just 5.0 million.

Forward – Lionel Messi (Barcelona) – 20.0 million

What can I say that has not already been said about the best player on the planet? Lionel Messi travels to face Sevilla this weekend knowing that another three points will put his team within touching distance of another La Liga title. Messi loves big games and can turn it on home or away. Back him to have a blinder at Sevilla.

Forward – Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) – 12.5 million

Atletico’s French international star striker Antoine Griezmann has scored in three of his last four games in La Liga. Against relegation-threatened Villarreal this weekend, I expect Griezmann to bag at least one goal.

Team in full (4-4-2): Herrerin (Bilbao); Yuri (Bilbao), Yeray (Bilbao), Djene (Getafe), Suarez (Getafe); Correa (Atl Mad), Lemar (Atl Mad), Sarabia (Sevilla), Jony (Alaves); Messi (Barcelona), Griezmann (Atl Mad)
