Messi on fire as Barcelona win at Sevilla

Keeping Messi quiet when he’s on this type of form is virtually impossible, though.

After 67 minutes, the Argentine international curled another top-drawer finish past poor Tomas Vaclik in Sevilla’s goal, this time with his right foot.

With five minutes remaining, Messi completed his hat-trick with a beautifully chipped finish from close range as Vaclik advanced to close him down.

Barcelona were now 3-2 up and looked to be on their way to a valuable three points in their quest for another La Liga title.

Messi made sure of the win with a lovely assist for Luis Suarez deep into injury time and the Barca’s number 9 made no mistake.

Barcelona ran out 4-2 winners in a highly-entertaining game.

From a fantasy football point of view – here are the main talking points from the game -

Messi totalled a fantastic 16 points for his performance with three goals and an assist. Luis Suarez was Barcelona’s next highest scorer thanks to his goal. Suarez scored 4 fantasy football points.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Barca’s boys, though. The goalkeeper and all five defenders ended up with negative points totals from the game because they conceded two goals. Marc Ter Stegen and Gerard Pique both received -2 points while Jordi Alba, Nelsinho and Samuel Umtiti were all given a score of -1 point.

Jesus Navas was Sevilla’s highest scorer with 4 points thanks to his first-half goal and the fact that he played the full 90 minutes. Sevilla’s other goalscorer, Mercado, went off after 51 minutes of play. He was awarded 1 fantasy football point.

Sevilla’s poor goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik scored -6 points after conceding four goals.

Maximilian Wober and Simon Kjaer were the worst outfield Sevilla players to have on your team. Wober was given a score of -4 points due to his yellow card and substitution before the hour. Kjaer was on the field for all four goals conceded and he picked up a yellow card as well.

Sergi Gomez and Ibrahim Amadou both scored -3 for their fantasy football teams as well.

Overall, it was a day to have Lionel Messi and avoid Sevilla players! It might be a good thing to remember about any of Barcelona’s opponents between now and May!
