Borja Valero insists Inter dressing room has always been united

Borja Valero

Borja Valero spoke to the media in the immediate aftermath of last night’s 1-1 draw between Inter and Roma at San Siro. Here is what the veteran Nerazzurri midfielder said during an interview with Sky Sport:

“We’ve still got a fight on our hands, we’ve got important matches ahead of us. However, it’s obviously better to be able to manage an advantage. We take to the pitch to win every game. The changing room has always been united, and we demonstrated this today too. We’re all aiming for the same objective: qualifying for the Champions League. We hope to achieve this.”

Slovak defender Milan Škriniar also had his say on the match, which the Nerazzurri could easily have won thanks to an excellent second half display: “We claimed a good point in the Champions League race but I believe that we deserved to win, unfortunately we couldn’t find the second goal. Perhaps we lacked the final ball today, they defended well while we played very well in the second half.

“We go into the Juventus game fired up, we want to win and we’re preparing for it well. Unfortunately, this year, I’ve still not been able to score and I miss it because it’s an extra way to help the team. I’ll look to be more clinical in the box and I aim to score at least one.”

Finally, Kwadwo Asamoah was asked for his thoughts on the match ahead of next weekend’s Derby d’Italia which will see him face former side Juventus: In the second half above all, we played well. After conceding in the first half, we rushed a bit and struggled. After, we managed possession better and showed more organisation in attack.

“The match was very tight, there wasn’t much space in the first half. We attacked better in the second half down the flanks and that’s what the goal came from. We want to win every game; the Juventus match will be difficult but we’ll prepare well for it as it’s one of the most important games in the season. Physically, we’re fine apart from Brozović who is working to come back, we’re all available and ready mentally.”
