EPL Best XI – Week 37

townsend

The curtain is almost down. The business is almost done. With just a single round of games remaining in the Premier League, the relegation battle is finished but the title race remains very much alive. With the final game of the season being the time that this year’s Premier League champions will be identified, there is still plenty to play for at the summit of England’s top flight. With that said, let’s adopt a 4-3-3 formation this week and see which players performed the best for their clubs this past weekend.

GK – Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea)
There may have been some controversy surrounding Kepa in recent months, but the 24-year-old was on hand to help Chelsea keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 triumph over Watford at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The clean sheet gives him seven for the week.

DF – Nathan Aké (Bournemouth)
Former Chelsea defender Aké was in fine form as Bournemouth saw off the challenge of Tottenham. He scored the only goal of the game as the Cherries triumphed 1-0 over nine-man Tottenham in a feisty affair. He finished with nine points for the week.

DF - David Luiz (Chelsea)
Another Chelsea star on this week’s list, Luiz bagged nine points for himself as well. He scored one (four points) and helped his side to the clean sheet (five points), putting the Brazilian tied for first place of Premier League defenders this past weekend.

DF - Arthur Masuaku (West Ham)
Masuaku’s season has not always been the most consistent, but he earned five points for himself this weekend thanks to the Hammers’ clean sheet in their 3-0 home win against Southampton on Saturday.

DF -  Michael Keane (Everton)
The ex-Burnley defender helped the Toffees to a 2-0 win against his former club on Friday, helping himself to five points from the clean sheet.

MF – Seamus Coleman (Everton)
Coleman joins team-mate Keane in this week’s list, earning six fantasy points after scoring one of Everton’s goals in that 2-0 win over Burnley, adding two points for the clean sheet as well.

MF – Andros Townsend (Crystal Palace)
Townsend also earned six points during the Eagles’ 3-2 win at Cardiff which helped consign the Bluebirds to Championship football next season. He scored one and earned two points for the clean sheet.

MF – Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
It is difficult to have a list like this without Hazard featuring regular, to be sure! The Belgian set up two of Chelsea’s three goals in their 3-0 win against Watford, and earned two for the clean sheet giving him a total of six for the week.

ST - Marko Arnautovic (West Ham)
Arnautovic showed that he can still do a good job at this level with a brace in West Ham’s 3-0 win against Southampton. That performance gave him eight points for the week and put him atop the EPL’s strikers charts for this weekend.

ST - Glenn Murray (Brighton)
Glenn Murray scored Brighton’s goal in their 1-1 draw at Arsenal – a result which secured The Seagulls a third consecutive top flight campaign. That goal gave him four points for the week, and takes him to 45 for the season.

ST - Michy (Crystal Palace)
Palace’s on-loan striker from Chelsea, Michy Batshuayi, scored a beauty during their 3-2 win at Cardiff. The repercussions of that goal were that it helped contribute to Cardiff’s relegation, but what does the future hold for the 25-year-old Belgian?
