Alessandro Bastoni spoke to Inter TV, with the Nerazzurri having completed their first few training sessions in Singapore. Here is what the Italian central defender had to say about his feelings on being involved and getting to know his teammates:
“It’s an honour for me to represent these colours, I’ve been hoping to reach this point for two years now and I’ve finally got this opportunity.
“If I’m here, it’s because of two clubs, and my thanks go to them. The first is Atalanta, who contributed to my development not just as a footballer but also as a person. Without a doubt, the second is Parma – the team that launched my career in football on the big stage.
“I managed to earn a place in the team, it wasn’t easy because there were some great players ahead of me. I’m happy with the season I had in Serie A and I’d like to thank Parma and D’Aversa, who gave me this opportunity.
“It’s certainly the case that I’ve immediately been made aware of where I am. Working with high-quality staff and great players is a great honour and privilege for me, and I’ll try to learn as much as possible.
“I’ve only been here for two days but I’ve already been able to admire this group’s quality, both on and off the pitch. Right from the first moment, they’ve known how to treat me. This focus on youngsters is a good sign, both for Italian football and Inter.”
