De Vrij understands Inter have lots of work to do

Stefan de Vrij

Stefan de Vrij spoke to the media in the immediate aftermath of Inter’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United in Singapore, a match which was ultimately decided by Mason Greenwood’s 75th minute goal. Here is what the Dutch central defender had to say:

“They are a great team with a lot of strong players. We are still working to improve and there’s still a lot to do. We’ve tried out various playing systems and these games are very useful as we continue to prepare.”

Nerazzurri winger Antonio Candreva also commented on his side’s opening International Champions Cup fixture during an interview with Inter TV: “There’s always something we can improve on, we’re here to do just this. We’ve only got a few days of preparation in our legs. These have been tough days because we’ve worked hard and well, but we need to get used to digging in.

“We also had opportunities and could have done more if we’d shown a bit more composure. Nevertheless, we’re confident. We got slightly stretched due to fatigue setting in and they’re slightly ahead in that regard, but we did well.

“Now, we’ll study the things we need to improve and correct. We need to work and focus on ourselves in doing so in order to be ready when the league season arrives. There will be changes in formation, this is how the coach works. We’ve taken steps forward.”
