Premier League match previews for this weekend’s action

Last weekend, Liverpool saw their 17-game winning run come to an end after being held to a 1-1 draw at Manchester United.

Manchester City gained two points on Jurgen Klopp’s men as they won 2-0 at Crystal Palace in their game.

Elsewhere, Chelsea, Leicester and Everton picked up valuable victories while a struggling Spurs side could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to lowly-Watford.

Southampton Vs Leicester City

Key men: Danny Ings (Southampton); Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

Prediction: Southampton 1 – 2 Leicester City

Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester to pick up another three points here. Southampton have flattered to deceive so far this season under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Manchester City Vs Aston Villa

Key men: Raheem Sterling (Manchester City); Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)

Prediction: Manchester City 4 – 0 Aston Villa

Villa have been pretty solid since their promotion under Dean Smith. Yet, it’s hard to see anything other than a comfortably convincing home win for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in this game. Watford Vs Bournemouth

Key men: Gerard Deulofeu (Watford); Callum Wilson (Bournemouth)

Prediction: Watford 1 – 3 Bournemouth

Still without a league win after 9 games, Watford have been the most disappointing side of this Premier League campaign. Bournemouth could turn them over at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

West Ham United Vs Sheffield United

Key men: Sebastien Haller (West Ham United); Oliver McBurnie (Sheffield United)

Prediction: West Ham United 1 – 1 Sheffield United

Sheffield United’s dogged determination and structured organisation has got placed comfortably, 9th in the league, after 9 games. Chris Wilder’s side will prove a stern test for Mauricio Pellegrini’s West Ham this weekend.

Brighton Vs Everton

Key men: Neal Maupay (Brighton); Richarlison (Everton)

Prediction: Brighton 1 – 1 Everton

Tough game to call between two lower-half sides at the Amex Stadium.

Burnley Vs Chelsea

Key men: Ashley Barnes (Burnley); Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)

Prediction: Burnley 1 – 1 Chelsea

Frank Lampard has managed to Chelsea to 4th-place with five wins in 9 games so far. However, Burnley are much-improved on last season’s showing and Sean Dyche will be confident of getting at least a point against The Blues.

Newcastle United Vs Wolves

Key men: Allan Saint-Maximin (Newcastle United); Raul Jimenez (Wolves)

Prediction: Newcastle United 1 – 1 Wolves

These two sides look like they’re in for a long slog this season. Wolves surprised us all in 2018/19 but now Nuno Espirito Santo may need new ideas to keep the Molineux club progressing in English football’s top flight.

Norwich City Vs Manchester United

Key men: Teemu Pukki (Norwich City); Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

Prediction: Norwich City 1 – 1 Manchester United

United overperformed against Liverpool last Sunday. I wouldn’t expect the same level from them at Carrow Road. Norwich should get a point, at least, from this game.

Liverpool Vs Spurs

Key men: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool); Harry Kane (Spurs)

Prediction: Liverpool 2 – 0 Spurs

Liverpool to get back to winning ways. All is not rosy in the garden at Spurs this season and their midweek Champions League victory may have been just papering over the cracks.

Arsenal Vs Crystal Palace

Key men: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal); Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

Prediction: Arsenal 2 – 2 Crystal Palace

A high-scoring all-London thriller could be in store at the Emirates.
