Serie A Round 23 Fantacalcio Player Trends: Stock Up

We are back with more of the expert fantacalcio content you crave ahead of Serie A matchday 23 in Italy. But, before we get into everything you need to gain the advantage in your respective leagues, let’s briefly recap what happened last weekend on the peninsula.

Riccardo Orsolini and Bologna sunk Brescia late 2-1 to get things rolling on the weekend, while Cagliari and Parma played out to a 2-2 draw in a match filled with Europa League implications.

Sassuolo dealt Roma the biggest shock of the round when Francesco Caputo and Jeremie Boga smashed the Roman side 4-2 at home.

On Sunday, when the majority of the matches were held, it was Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus who cruised to a 3-0 win over Fiorentina in Turin. Atalanta and Genoa split the spoils in a 2-2 stalemate, opening the door up for Milan to chip away at that gap separating them and 4th – but to no avail as the Rossoneri had to settle on a 1-1 draw against 10 man Verona at home.

Lecce went full throttle on Torino 4-0, Lazio mashed SPAL 5-1 and Inter returned to winning form by the score of 0-2 over Udinese.

Now, we take a look at the five players you should consider adding to your fantasy roster this weekend.

Hakan Calhanoglu (MID, AC Milan, Value 14.71) – Having been in and out of the starting lineup all season with inconsistency issues, it seems that Hakan Calhanoglu has begun to turn the corner towards regaining form for Milan. The Turkish international has been playing as a left-midfielder mostly in Pioli’s 442, often getting opportunities in the final third to get on the ball, create and even have a go at goal. In his last two matches in all competitions, the 25-year old has scored three goals. As long as he is getting starting minutes and picking up confidence, Calhanoglu could be worth a flyer this weekend in Milan’s derby clash with Inter.

Riccardo Orsolini (MID, Bologna, Value 19.19) – The young Italian’s big breakthrough all started in the final months of the 2018/19 season where he showed his dribbling ability, eye for a pass and goalscoring potential. Now, with more volume, Orsolini is showing more consistency and quality to the point where he is now being linked with a summer return to his parent club Juventus. On the season, the 23-year old has scored 6 goals and added a further 4 assists in 22 matches. As the weather heats up, so shall Orsolini, just as he did last season. Bologna pay a visit to Roma on Friday, and he should certainly be a serious option for your side.

Francesco Caputo (ATT, Sassuolo, Value 20.26) – At €7,5 million, Caputo was one of the best value buys from last summer’s market in Italy, and his production this season for Sassuolo supports this. With 10 goals and 4 assists, the veteran forward is delivering exactly what Roberto De Zerbi was hoping for when he arrived, and we can expect more of the same the rest of the way as long as he starts. As long as Berardi, Boga and Djuricic keep the supply going, Caputo should continue his run of form this weekend away vs SPAL who were just torched for 5 goals by Lazio.

Arkadiusz Milik (ATT, Napoli, Value 12.79) – Talent has never been an issue with Milik, rather his ability to stay fit and on the pitch. As they say, the best ability is availability, and when the Pole is there for selection, there is a good chance he will produce. On the season, the 25-year old has 8 goals to his name and an additional 3 from UEFA Champions League competition. Gennaro Gattuso clearly rates Milik above all other strike options and he is producing, so start him this weekend when Napoli host Lecce.

Bartłomiej Drągowski (GK, Fiorentina, Value 13.86) – Taking the number one spot from Alban Lafont last summer, Dragowski has been a steady keeper in the back for Fiorentina. this despite the club’s sporadic play in an otherwise tumultuous season. In the young Pole you have a stonewall penalty stopper, a strong individual who isn’t afraid to come off his line and one who is putting it all on the line to win a spot on Poland’s Euro 2020 roster this summer. If you have been working with a goalkeeper by committee this season, Dragowski may be worth adding this weekend vs Atalanta.
