Serie A Round 26 Fantacalcio Player Trends: Stock Up

Serie A round 25 was trimmed down and cut short of a full slate of matches with the recent coronavirus crisis hitting various parts of Italy, so there wasn’t much to recap from last weekend apart from a few fixtures.

Lorenzo Insigne and Fabian Ruiz goals were enough to give Napoli the tight 1-2 win away vs. Brescia, while Juventus pulled out the same result in their 1-2 victory away to SPAL thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo‘s 11th straight match finding the back of the net.

Milan left the Stadio Artemio Franchi with a sour taste in their mouths as officiating controversy forced them to settle on a 1-1 draw against 10-man Fiorentina. As for the two Roman sides Roma and Lazio, both picked up victories with main hitmen Edin Dzeko and Ciro Immobile grabbing goals for themselves.

Let’s take a look at who you should be watching this weekend for your fantacalcio rosters.

Mario Pasalic (MID, Atalanta, Value 15.21) - Serie A and Europe’s darlings from Bergamo are authoring a story for the purists, and those who romanticize about an underdog story. After handing Valencia a 4-1 beating in their first UCL knockout match, Atalanta have caught the attention of all across the football spectrum, with a slew of stars coming in all shapes and sizes. One of the emerging ones is Mario Pasalic who has been used as a super sub by Gian Piero Gasperini. Regardless of his role, the Croatian seldom puts a wrong foot forward and is one of the skipper’s most trusted men. After last week‘s postponement, Atalanta visit Lecce well rested so expect a strong performance from the former Chelsea man if he gets the nod.

Juan Musso (GK, Udinese, Value 14.83) – Although Udinese haven’t had a ton to celebrate this season, the exploits in net should be. Argentine keeper Juan Musso has been one of the surprise packages as the last line of defence this season, ranking amongst the top in Serie A with 8 clean sheets despite his backline getting sawed apart on the regular. This weekend, the Friulani host Fiorentina so there is potential in another strong outing for the 25-year old in the event you are looking to shake things up a bit in the posts.

Adam Marusic (DEF, Lazio, Value 8.66) – Now that long-serving wingback Senad Lulic sidelined, Adam Marusic becomes a solid play – for many reasons. One, the Montenegro international will get the starting minutes just as he has been these past few weeks for Simone Inzaghi. Two, he will be asked to play a key role in Lazio’s defensive assignment. Three, Marusic should take plenty of motivation in this role for a true title contender. Scoop up the 27-year old for the Biancocelesti’s hosting of Bologna on Saturday.

Carles Pérez (ATT, Roma, Value 4.50) – As one of the newest members of Roma, winter addition Carles Pérez has begun seeing some quality minutes and reaping the benefits of them, lending a hand in the goal contributions. After grabbing his first goal for the club in the 1-0 Europa League win over Gent, the former Barcelona youth snagged an assist in the Giallorossi’s 4-0 mauling of Lecce last weekend. While it’s hard to say if the 22-year old will get more action this weekend against Cagliari, there is a good chance Fonseca at least brings him on for a decent cameo.

Ante Rebić (ATT, Milan, Value 8.47) – There is no need to whisper it. Ante Rebić has been Milan’s best player in 2020. Despite only starting 5 Serie A matches this season, the Croatian is currently the Rossoneri’s top scorer with 6 goals, most of which have come at crucial times to either the club collect all three points or steal some. Last week, the former Frankfurt attacker delivered the only goal in Milan’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, showing no signs of slowing down. This weekend, the red and black welcome Genoa to the San Siro where the two sides will play in the early afternoon time slot. Although notoriously struggle in these matches, we expect the Croat to bring more of the same tenacity, bite and production against one of the worst teams in the league. At 8.47, this is the steal of the fantacalcio weekend.
