Coman rules out PSG return whilst one player is there

Kingsley Coman has ruled out a return to Paris Saint-Germain for the time being.

The 24-year-old has just completed his fifth season with Bayern Munich, culminating with the winger scoring the only goal in the Champions League final… versus PSG.

Coman came through the youth ranks at the French Ligue 1 champions, making just three league appearances before he left on a free transfer to join Juventus at the start of the 2014-15 campaign.

The 22-time French international stayed for just one season in Turn before spending two on loan at the Bavarians where he joined on a permanent basis in 2017.

Any hopes of PSG re-signing their one-time youth player have been ruled out for the near future by Kinsley Coman himself. Speaking to French outlet Telefoot, the pacey forward explained that he wouldn’t be able to compete with Neymar for a regular starting spot:

“It’s complicated. If Neymar is on the left. No, it’s almost impossible. Paris is not in my career plans.

“I have maybe eight to 10 years at a high level, so we can’t close the door. In my head, there are memories of childhood. There is a little less good, but I kept the good memories of my time at PSG.

“PSG will always be my favourite club. But, for me, it was the right decision to leave and maybe if I hadn’t left I might not have won this Champions League.

“I didn’t make an easy choice, but I always thought that, with my qualities, I could play for a big club.”

Kingsley Coman admitted that he felt “sick” after scoring the winner in the Champions League final versus his former club last weekend.

Even if Paris Saint-Germain did have ambitions of bringing their former player back to the Parc des Princes, Coman still has three years left on his contract with the German giants.

Coman started 17 Bundesliga games this past season, competing with Ivan Perisic for a place down the left flank, with the Croatian being on a year long loan from Internazionale.

The 2020-21 French Ligue 1 season is underway now but PSG’s campaign does not begin until Thursday 10 September when their opening game is away to RC Lens. This delay was requested by Thomas Tuchel and the team due to their involvement in the Champions League over in Portugal earlier this month.
