EPL Predictions Gameweek 3

Brighton & Hove Albion host Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime in the first Premier League game of the weekend before the action concludes on Monday night with the most-anticipated game of the week: Liverpool versus Arsenal at Anfield.

In between that, Manchester City welcome Leicester City to the Etihad Stadium and Crystal Palace host Everton in a match between two teams with six points from six.

Here’s a look ahead to each of the weekend’s games:

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United
Manchester United started the 2020-21 Premier League season with a 1-3 loss at home to Crystal Palace, whilst Brighton were comfortable 3-0 winners away to Newcastle United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side did the double over the Seagulls last season, including a 3-0 win here in June, so perhaps they can pick up their first points of the campaign on Saturday. Bruno Fernandes scored two here just three months ago and is always difficult to leave out of your fantasy team.

Crystal Palace vs Everton
Everton went from a tight 1-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur to thrashing 10 man West Bromwich Albion 5-2 in their second game, whilst Crystal Palace did similar – a 1-0 win on the opening day and 3-1 in matchday 2. It makes it difficult to predict which way this go but I expect it to a tight affair. I am leaning towards Everton so Dominic Calvert-Lewin may be the safest pick for your fantasy team.

West Bromwich Albion vs Chelsea
Chelsea will be without Andreas Christensen for their trip to the Hawthorns on Saturday after the Danish centre-back was sent off in their 0-2 loss at home to Liverpool last weekend. Frank Lampard’s side will be expected to bounce back with a win in this one as West Brom have lost their first two matches, each by three goals. Timo Werner or Mason Mount could be among the goals.

Burnley vs Southampton
Two teams without a point meet at Turf Moor on Saturday night. Burnley started their season with a 2-4 loss at Leicester last weekend whilst Southampton have lost both of their games after heading into the new campaign with some confidence. Can Danny Ings haunt his old club this weekend?

Sheffield United vs Leeds United
Leeds United have been involved in a 3-4 defeat and a 4-3 win in their first Premier League campaign since 2004. Many will expect Marcelo Biela’s side to pick up another three points on Sunday lunchtime in a Yorkshire derby versus a Sheffield United side who have lost both games without scoring a goal. Jack Harrison.is a popular choice among fantasy football players to start the new season.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United
Jose Mourinho’s side picked up their first points of the season with a 5-2 thrashing of Southampton last weekend, whilst Newcastle United were handed a 0-3 thrashing at home by Brighton. Everything points to a Tottenham win this Sunday and Heung-min Son is the sensible choice for your team after scoring four goals against the Saints.

Manchester City vs Leicester City
Manchester City made an encouraging start to the new season with a 3-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers – after Nuno’s side did the double over them last campaign. The Citizens face another test this weekend as Leicester City visit the Etihad. Should the home side win, Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus are likely to be among the goals.

West Ham United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Sunday’s action concludes at the London Stadium as Wolves look to bounce back against a pointless West Ham side. Daniel Podence and Raul Jimenez are good options in attack but you may also consider this as a good opportunity for a clean sheet, in which Rui Patricio and Willy Boly are worth considering.

Fulham vs Aston Villa
Aston Villa beat 10 man Sheffield United last Monday and Dean Smith’s side travel to Fulham at the same time this week. A tough one to call with Fulham scoring three in defeat to Leeds United last weekend. Jack Grealish, Aleksandar Mitrovic or Matty Cash could be sensible choices for your fantasy team.

Liverpool vs Arsenal
Two teams with six points to start the new campaign. The same situation to start the 2019-20 campaign when Liverpool won this same fixture 3-1. Unless you’re a passionate Arsenal fan, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are going to be the most popular selections from this matchup.
