Premier League Best 11 Players of the Weekend: Matchday 2

Heung-min Son scored four as Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Southampton 5-2 and Dominic Calvert-Lewin grabbed a hat-trick as Everton beat 10 man West Bromwich Albion by the same score.

Clean sheets were hard to come by in the Premier League last weekend, with only Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea and Aston Villa keeping one.

Here’s a look at the players who made a real difference in the fantasy football last weekend:

Goalkeeper: Emi Martinez (Aston Villa) – 7pts
Aston Villa’s new signing introduced himself to the fans by saving a penalty and keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Sheffield United on his debut. Emi Martinez was one of only three goalkeepers to keep a clean sheet on matchday 2.

Defender: Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa) – 12pts
Scored the only goal of the game to give Aston Villa three points in their first match of the season. It wasn’t just Ezri Konsa’s goal that left the fans happy last Monday, the centre-back put in an all-round solid performance.

Defender: Michael Keane (Everton) – 9pts
Despite conceding two goals in their home win over West Brom on Saturday lunchtime, Michael Keane makes the team as he got on the scoresheet in their 5-2 win to make it two from two to start the new campaign.

Defender: James Justin (Leicester City) – 9pts
Leicester City’s full-back was on hand to tap home from close range in their 4-2 win over Burnley on Sunday. James Justin has started both games for the Foxes and has looked impressive going forward.

Defender: Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa) – 9pts
The next Aston Villa player to make the team of the week is Tyrone Mings for his clean sheet in the heart of their defence.

Midfielder: Harvey Barnes (Leicester City) – 11pts
Harvey Barnes may earn an England call up by the end of the season if he continues to impress in the Leicester midfield. The youngster scored, assisted and hit the outside of the post in their second win of the new campaign last weekend.

Midfielder: Dennis Praet (Leicester City) – 9pts
Dennis Praet ended any nerves Leicester players and fans may have had shortly after Burnley had reduced the deficit by making it 4-2 from the edge of the box with little more than 10 minutes to play. The Belgian midfielder scored very well in fantasy football as a result.

Midfielder: Andros Townsend (Crystal Palace) – 9pts
An early strike from Andros Townsend at Old Trafford helped Crystal Palace on their way to a 3-1 win over Manchester United.

Striker: Son Heung-Min (Tottenham Hotspur) – 19pts
The joint-highest scoring weekend of the season so far, Son Heung-min produced four fine finishes from one-on-one situations against Alex McCarthy as he helped Tottenham Hotspur romp to victory.

Striker: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) – 19pts
Son is joined by teammate Harry Kane on the top scoring list. That’s because the England international set up all four goals for his teammate and had time to grab a goal himself.

Striker: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) – 15pts
There won’t be too many weekends when you see a hat-trick scorer only just make it into the team. Dominic Calvert-Lewin got last weekend’s Premier League action underway with three versus West Brom to make it into the team.
