Fantasy La Liga Gameweek 4 Picks

The 2020-21 Spanish La Liga season continues this weekend after a full round of fixtures midweek.

FC Barcelona started the season with a convincing 4-0 thrashing of Villarreal over the weekend and will face Celta Vigo away on Thursday, before hosting Sevilla over the weekend.

Meanwhile. defending champions Real Madrid face a potentially tricky match versus Real Valladolid on Wednesday before travelling to Levante on Sunday.

Here are this weekend’s tips for your fantasy team:

Goalkeeper: Jordi Masip (Real Valladolid)
Real Valladolid welcome Eibar to the Jose Zorrilla Stadium in the first La Liga game of the weekend. Sergio’s side play a defensive game and had the best defensive record in the bottom half last season as a result. Although they’re without a clean sheet in their first three prior to travelling to Real Madrid on Wednesday night, weekend opponents Eibar are really struggling to score so this is an excellent opportunity to Jordi Masip to register a shutout.

Defender: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
Real Madrid can be expected to pick up three points at Levante over the weekend and keep a clean sheet in the process. Sergio Ramos should be a regular in your fantasy team, not only for his clean sheets but also his goals from penalties and set pieces.

Defender: Daniel Carvajal (Real Madrid)
Zinedine Zidane’s side are your best bet for keeping a clean sheet this weekend so right-back Dani Carvajal would be a sensible selection for your team, bombing down the right wing. The Real Madrid boss has rotated Marcelo and Ferland Mendy down the left whilst Carvajal should be a regular on the opposite flank.

Defender: Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid)
Diego Simeone keeps a tight ship at Atletico Madrid, who welcome Villarreal to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium this weekend. As well as being a good shot to keep a clean sheet, Kieran Trippier bombs forward down the right and takes corners, giving him opportunities to register assists.

Midfielder: Angel Correa (Atletico Madrid)
The Argentinian midfielder has made a good start to the season with one goal and two assists. Atletico Madrid host a Villarreal side who have conceded six goals in their first four games so there’s every chance Angel Correa can add to his tally this weekend.

Midfielder: Nabil Fekir (Real Betis)
Real Betis had made an impressive start to the season prior to their red card in a 2-3 defeat at home to Real Madrid over the weekend. They were then thrashed 0-3 at Getafe and we’re in for an entertaining game at the Mestella this weekend at Valencia. Expect goals in this game between two attacking sides. One of the beneficiaries could well be Nabil Fekir.

Midfielder: Unai Lopez (Athletic Bilbao)
Deportivo Alaves have made a slow start to the new campaign and Athletic Bilbao will be looking to profit from that at the Mendizorrotza Stadium on Sunday. Unai Lopez already has two goals to his name this season so would be a sensible choice for your fantasy team this weekend.

Midfielder: Miguele Alfonso Herrero (Real Valladolid)
Real Valladolid should be going for the three points at home to Eibar on Saturday lunchtime and midfielder Miguele Alfonso Herrero is capable of being a match winner for Sergio’s side.

Striker: Luis Suarez (Atletico Madrid)
Luis Suarez came off the bench to score twice and assist another in Atletico Madrid’s 6-1 thrashing of Granada last weekend. The Uruguayan should be ready to start when Diego Simeone’s side host Villarreal this weekend in a game Suarez and co are more than capable of scoring a few more.

Striker: Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Although Real Madrid’s striker is without a goal in his first two games of the campaign, Karim Benzema should continue to start away to Levante in a game which Zidane’s side should be capable of winning by more than one goal for a change.

Striker: Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Lionel Messi scored once as Barcelona thrashed Villarreal in their first game of the season. Except the Argentinian to step it up when his side host a top Sevilla side and may be in need of some Messi magic to pick up another three points on Sunday night.
