5 of the best Premier League transfers during the window

The summer transfer window is now closed and Premier League clubs have made a lot of business during the opening couple of weeks of action.

New arrivals were landed as late as deadline day on Monday and managers have a difficult job to integrate their new players into the team ready for next weekend’s action as many squad members are currently jetting off all over the world for international duty.

Here’s a look back over the transfer window to five players we believe could have the biggest impact on your fantasy team this season:

1. James Rodriguez (Everton)
The Colombian star has taken the Premier League like a duck to water with four goals and an assist in his first four starts for Everton. As a result, the Toffees headed into the break as the only team with 12 points.

James Rodriguez has been outstanding as the number 10 in Carlo Ancelotti’s attacking side that have scored a league high 12 goals through four rounds of action. Although he’ll set your fantasy team back £9.50m he has so far been worth every penny.

2. Timo Werner (Chelsea)
So far the expensive summer signing has been a big disappointment for Chelsea as Timo Werner is yet to score in four Premier League starts. A talented striker doesn’t lose his class overnight and it hasn’t been helped by Frank Lampard moving the 24-year-old out of position at times.

Give him time and I am very confident the goals will start flowing for the German international. Timo Werner will only set you back £7.50m too so he’s not going to blow your budget over the next couple of weeks either.

3. Gareth Bale (Tottenham Hotspur)
Expected to be fit to play for Tottenham Hotspur after the international break, all eyes will be on Gareth Bale‘s second debut. The Welsh ace has had a very tough past couple of years with injury and omission at Real Madrid but North London is the opportunity for him to rebuild his career on loan.

We all know what the Welsh winger is capable of – goals and assists from out wide. Although he’ll set you back £9.50m, Spurs are the joint-leading goalscorers in the Premier League so there’s no reason why Bale can’t get back to his best in Jose Mourinho’s system.

4. Ross Barkley (Aston Villa)
Ross Barkley can expect to become a regular in this Aston Villa side following his season-long loan move from Chelsea. His first start was the 7-2 demolition of Liverpool this past week in which he found the back of the net and hit the frame of the goal too.

Although it was a while ago now, the attacking midfielder showed at Everton that he can chip in with a number of goals and this should allow Jack Grealish to play his box-to-box role more effectively instead of being lined up on the left wing for goals all too often.

5. Cengiz Under (Leicester City)
Leicester City signed an underrated star towards the end of the transfer window when Cengiz Under arrived from AS Roma. The right forward had been prolific in his first season in Italy in 2017-18 before drifting off a little over the past two seasons.

The Foxes have been reliant on goals from Jamie Vardy to start the season but may have found another player capable of reaching double figures this season. The Turkish international will set you back just £6.50m and is listed as a midfielder.
