Calcio Predictions – Round Five

Sassuolo-Torino: the Neroverdi are coming off three wins in a row, the Granata have suffered three consecutive losses, so this one looks like a no-brainer, even though surprises can always be just around the corner: 2-0.

Atalanta-Sampdoria: the Bergamaschi bounced back from the stunning Napoli romp in Champions League and will look to do the same in domestic play, maintaining the pace they had in the first three successful outings. Sampdoria looked mighty good versus Lazio and got Fiorentina as well, but they might be forced to bend the knee here: 3-1.

Genoa-Inter: the Grifone put in a strong effort to hold Verona to a tie and they should be in better shape this week as the COVID outbreak is getting resolved. The Nerazzurri need to get back on track after tying with Lazio and losing in the Derby and they are generally reliable against the minnows: 0-1.

Lazio-Bologna: after the win over Cagliari in the opener, the Biancocelesti gathered just one point in the matches with Atalanta, Inter and Sampdoria, but they will be riding high after defeating Borussia Dortmund. The Felsinei have been alive, but they have been sunk in three out of the first four games: 2-1.

Cagliari-Crotone: the Sardinians got their first W of the year in the Torino clash after two straight losses and a draw. The Sharks looked pretty bad in the first three round, against Genoa, Milan and Sampdoria, but brought it versus Juventus at home: 3-2.

Benevento-Napoli: the Sanniti have struggled to keep up with better opponents, but they picked up points whenever they had a solid opportunity to do so. The Partenopei have been terrific in Serie A play so far, the dud with AZ could be chalked up to lack of interest in Europa League: 1-4.

Parma-Spezia: the Ducali got got by Udinese last week, their third L of the year with one win coming versus Verona, but they made some improvements over the break. The Aquilotti are coming off a come-from-behind tie with Fiorentina. Before of that, they had troubles against superior teams but defeated Udinese: 3-3.

Fiorentina-Udinese: the Viola have had three disappointing results in a row as they were pipped at the post by both Inter and Sampdoria and then wasted an early two-nothing lead versus Spezia. The Zebrette got off their schneid in the Parma bout after three straight losses: 1-1.

Juventus-Verona: the Bianconeri have been subpar in Serie A so far as they were held to a tie by Roma and Crotone, but on the road, instead they had rolled Sampdoria to open the campaign at home. The Scaligeri have gone the other way after a tie with the Giallorossi and a victory over Udinese, losing in Parma and drawing with the depleted Genoa: 2-0.

Milan-Roma: the Rossoneri just keep winning even though the key absences are beginning to pile up. La Lupa has fared well in the past three outings and it would not be a shock to see them halt the Devil’s run, but it is tough to bet against the home team at this stage: 2-1.
