Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round Nine

Atalanta: Robin Gosens sprained his knee versus Liverpool, but the tests came back clean and he might play through it. Mario Pasalic missed the midweek tilt with a bruised pubic bone, Fabio Depaoli with a thigh pull. Cristian Romero has a sore adductor. Ruslan Malinovskyi and Aleksey Miranchuk are out with COVID.

Benevento: Gaetano Letizia is likely to feature despite some knee pain, while Daam Foulon could be back after sitting out one because of few knocks. Nicolas Viola and Iago Falque are iffy because of lack of fitness. Brayan Dabo has Coronavirus.

Bologna: most of their injured players returned last week, so only Andreas Skov Olsen (back) and Matthijs Dijks (thigh) remain on the mend and might return at some point in December, while Federico Santander will be back in the Spring from his ACL tear.

Cagliari: Giovanni Simeone and Nahitan Nandez contracted COVID-19, joining Diego Godin in that regard, while Nahitan Nandez has been allowed to leave isolation. Ragnar Klavan subbed off with a nasty cut on the forehead last week but should be good to go. Charalampos Lykogiannis (calf) and Luca Ceppitelli (thigh) are likely to sit out another one with their muscular injuries, like Zito Luvumbo, while they could welcome back Simone Pinna (thigh).

Crotone: Salvatore Molina might be available after being affected by Coronavirus for quite some team. Vladimir Golemic was a late scratch last week because of gastroenteritis. Luca Cigarini will miss at least a couple of weeks with a calf strainAndrea Rispoli will miss a couple of weeks with a knee sprain. Ahmad Benali (calf), Koffi Djidji (back), Luca Siligardi (thigh) and Emmanuel Riviere (quad) have been ruled out by the coach. 

Cagliari: Franck Ribery (thigh) subbed off last week and Giacomo Bonaventura (ankle) was pulled from the starting XI, but both practiced in full in the last couple of days and should be available, like José Callejon, who had to work on his form after COVID. Lorenzo Venuti missed the midweek Coppa Italia math with a muscular problem.

Genoa: Mattia Perin is suspended and also suffered a thigh strain. Davide Biraschi is out with a shoulder sprain, Domenico Criscito with a knee injury that has not been fully disclosed but is reportedly pretty serious. Davide Zappacosta is recovering from a thigh strain but might need at least another week. Valon Behrami, Nicolò Rovella and Lennart Czyborra had to deal with a stomach bug recently. Filippo Melegoni is out with a minor muscular ailment. 

Inter: Marcelo Brozovic turned negative on Thursday, but then was found positive again Saturday, so he is out. Aleksandar Kolarov and Daniele Padelli have COVID as well Stefano Sensi returned against Real Madrid after a long time on the mend with a tricky thigh problem, while Andrea Pinamonti was available after an ankle sprain. Romelu Lukaku could be getting the day off, while Radja Nainggolan suffered a calf pull. 

Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo will be rested this week. Gianluigi Buffon sat out the previous match with a calf issue. Leonardo Bonucci is trying a quick recovery from a thigh issue has been called up, while Merih Demiral (hip) and Giorgio Chiellini (thigh) will be sidelined.

Lazio: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic shook off COVID-19 and they have generally used their players right away. Gonzalo Escalante is likely to return from a thigh injury, while Vedat Muriqi picked up one versus Zenit and is taking some tests. Senad Lulic (ankle) is close but probably will not return here.

Milan: Zlatan Ibrahimovic will sit out a couple of games with a biceps femoris strain in the right thigh. Alexis Saelemaekers is dealing with an ankle sprain but he is expected to be available, Rafael Leao with a thigh issue. Alessio Romagnoli sat out the midweek match with a sore calf but should play in Serie A. Ismael Bennacer missed practice Saturday with a sore adductor. Samu Castillejo is out with knee soreness. 

Napoli: Tiemoué Bakayoko is suspended. Victor Osimhen does not have great chances to return from a shoulder sprain. Amir Rrahmani and Elseid Hysaj have COVID.

Parma: Hernani (ribs), Valentin Laurini and Lautaro Valenti (thigh) are back. Valentin Mihaila is finishing off his rehab after sports hernia surgery. Simon Sohm suffered a significant ankle sprain, while Wylan Cyprien suffered a thigh injury late in the week. 

Roma: Edin Dzeko, Federico Fazio and Davide Santon have cleared the COVID-19 protocol, while Marash Kumbulla is still positive. Santon was also recovering from a thigh strain prior to that. Gianluca Mancini and Roger Ibanez are nursing minor thigh problems, Chris Smalling a knee ailment that already held him out in recent weeks.

Sampdoria: Fabio Quagliarella skipped the midweek Derby with a thigh injury and is doubt for Monday, but there is optimism he will be able to feature. Balde Keita will not return soon. Omar Colley is out with a stomach bug. 

Sassuolo: Francesco Caputo continues to deal with a thigh problem, like Gregoire Defrel. Vlad Chiriches and Domenico Berardi have been limited in practice late in the week, but they should be fine. Lukas Haraslin and Federico Ricci have shaken off COVID, but they remain sidelined. Filip Djuricic is banged up but he is available.

Spezia: Jacopo Sala (thigh) and Giuseppe Mastinu (ankle) came back in Coppa Italia, Juan Ramos (thigh), Paolo Bartolomei (foot) and Juan Ramos (thigh) remain out, while Salvador Ferrer is back. It does not look like Daniele Verde will be back this week from his thigh strain. Tommaso Pobega, Luca Mora and Federico Mattiello are fatigued. 

Torino: Andrea Belotti was a late scratch last week due to knee soreness, but he is expected back in this one, like Simone Verdi, who picked up a thigh issue last week. Sasa Lukic, Amer Gojak, Mergim Vojvoda and Samir Ujkani are unofficially dealing with COVID.

Udinese: Kevin Lasagna tweaked his knee in Coppa Italia and is undergoing some exams. Mamadou Coulibaly and Walace could miss another one.

Verona: Nikola Kalinic will miss time with a biceps femoris strain. Among their previously injured players. only Andrea Favilli and Matteo Lovato seem to have decent chances to return from thigh injuries, while Koray Gunter, Ronaldo Vieira and Kevin Ruegg could need at least another week. Marco Faraoni played in Coppa Italia. Marco Benassi continues to be nowhere to be found with a calf strain. Darko Lazovic has COVID.
