Calcio Predictions – Round Nine

Sassuolo-Inter: the Neroverdi are still undefeated and prevailed in five of the first eight rounds, oddly tying way more at home than away. They are coming off a quality win over Verona. The Beneamata returned to winning ways in Serie A with a comeback over Torino after two underwhelming ties with Parma and Atalanta and in the meantime have been brutal in Champions League, but they are solid away: 1-1.

Benevento-Juventus: the Sanniti interrupted a four-game losing streak (Roma, Napoli, Verona and Spezia) by nipping Fiorentina last week. The Bianconeri are coming off their best showing in a while versus Cagliari and will be looking to finally garner two Ws in a row in Serie A play despite the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo: 1-3.

Atalanta-Verona: the Bergamaschi shared the spoils with Inter and Spezia in the past two rounds and have triumphed just once in the last four Serie A fixtures, but bested Liverpool midweek in their best performance in months. The Scaligeri always put up a good fight, especially against the top teams as they have equalized with Juventus and Milan, but they have taken home the three points just once in the last six tilts (three ties, two losses): 2-1.

Lazio-Udinese: the Biancocelesti are gaining steam with three wins and one draw (with Juventus) in the past four games, in feasible matches against Bologna, Torino and Crotone. The Bianconeri have gotten two positive results in a row, a nil-nil with Sassuolo and a narrow win over Genoa, but the Eagles have begun taking care of business in this kind of games: 2-0.

Bologna-Crotone: the Felsinei are getting back on track as they have topped Cagliari and Sampdoria in the last three matchdays, losing only to Napoli. The Squali instead keep struggling and, after a draw with Torino, they suffered the sixth loss of the season by the hands of Lazio: 3-1.

Milan-Fiorentina: the Rossoneri snatched their best win of the season over Napoli last week, but lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the process. They have been held to a tie only by Roma and Verona, coming out on top in all the other matches. The Viola did not benefit from the new coach’s bump last week as they got torpedoed by Benevento, being handed their second defeat in the last three rounds, with the lone point coming against Parma: 1-0.

Cagliari-Spezia: after a very good stretch with three wins in four tilts, they could not keep up with Juventus last week and COVID is taking a serious toll on them. The Aquilotti have lost only to the Bianconeri in the past five fixtures as they equalized with Fiorentina, Parma and Atalanta and soundly defeated Benevento: 2-2.

Napoli-Roma: different form form for the two sides heading into the most anticipated clash of the round as the Partenopei have been toppled in two of the last home games, by Sassuolo and Milan, while the Giallorossi are riding a three-match winning streak (Fiorentina, Genoa, Parma) and have been stopped only by the Rossoneri in the last six fixtures: 1-2.

Torino-Sampdoria: despite all the absences, the Granata were actually brilliant for a half against Inter, but then fell apart late as it has happened too many times for them this year. They have somewhat improved after a terrible start, picking up points in three of the last four games, but they still have won just once. The Blucerchiati are going in the wrong direction after a positive streak as they have been upended by Cagliari and Sampdoria in the last two tilts: 1-1.

Genoa-Parma: three losses in a row for the Grifone, against Torino, Roma and Udinese, five total in the season, but they beat Sampdoria in Coppa Italia midweek. After three consecutive ties (Spezia, Inter, Fiorentina), the Ducali were trounced by Roma. Both coaches are on the hot seat: 2-2.
