Italian Football Predictions – Round 11

Sassuolo-Benevento: the Neroverdi have slowed down as they have won once in the past four matches after the initial hot streak and recently suffered their first L at the hands of Inter. They are coming off a nil-nil tie with Roma. The Sanniti have found some consistency as they have picked up points in three straight rounds after a losing streak, upending Fiorentina and drawing with Juventus and Parma: 1-1.

Crotone-Spezia: the Squali keep on struggling and were beaten for the eighth time by Napoli. Third defeat instead for the Bianconeri versus Lazio, ending a little run where they had drawn with Cagliari and Atalanta and topped Benevento. They road team has surely had a better impact with Serie A: 1-2.

Torino-Udinese: they got pipped at the post again in the Derby della Mole, where they played hard but could not get the desired result. They have triumphed just once in the season, but have two ties in the past four rounds, in the more feasible match-ups. The Zebrette’s last game got postponed, they had won twice in a row against Genoa and Lazio before that: 2-2.

Lazio-Verona: they quickly returned to winning ways against Spezia after taking a tumble versus Udinese, their fourth victory in the past six rounds. The Scaligeri shared the spoils with Cagliari after downing Atalanta and have been game against every top opponent they have faced so far: 1-1.

Cagliari-Inter: they have lost rhtym as they have not won in three fixtures, tying with Spezia and Verona in the most recent two after slipping versus Juventus. Three consecutive Ws for the Nerazzurri, against Torino, Sassuolo and Bologna. It remains to be seen whether the Champions League faux pas will have lingering effects, otherwise they should be able to take care of business here: 1-3.

Atalanta-Fiorentina: they have taken home the full loot in just one of the past six Serie A tilts, versus Crotone nonetheless, tying in two occasions and losing in three, most recently versus Verona, but they have looked great in Champions League in the meantime. Slight improvement for the Viola in the Genoa match, where they equalized late, preventing the third loss in a row. The state of the Bergamaschi is quite confusing, but what happened on Wednesday could be a morale boost: 2-0.

Bologna-Roma: the Felsinei got upended by Inter last week, losing some momentum after their two previous wins in easier matches (Sampdoria, Crotone), three in the past five. Similar trend for the Giallorossi which, after a winning streak, got man-handled by Napoli and then held to a tie by Sassuolo. The Rossoblù in general have proven to be too leaky against the more equipped sides (Milan, Sassuolo, Lazio, Napoli): 1-2.

Genoa-Juventus: they halted a four-game losing streak with a draw in Florence, where they were actually inches away from winning it all even though their display was not much better than the previous ones. The Bianconeri had to dig deep to defeat Torino and have actually had some troubles against the minnows this year, drawing with Crotone and Benevento, but they looked too good against Barcelona to follow it up with a stinker: 0-3.

Milan-Parma: The Rossoneri kept on streaking and nabbed the third consecutive win over Sampdoria last week. They have just two ties in the season, prevailing in all the other contests. The Ducali have showed some resilience in the last two months, where they have been beaten just once, by Roma, shared the spoils in four different occasions and bested Genoa. However, the Devil just tends to get the job done in this early portion of the season: 2-0.
