Serie A Injury and Suspension Report – Round 16

Atalanta: Cristiano Romero is suspended. Rafael Toloi is expected back after a minor thigh ailment. Mario Pasalic will miss a couple more but is nearing a return after sports-hernia surgery.

Benevento: Gaetano Letizia subbed off in the past game and is undergoing some tests for a potential thigh injury. Christian Maggio is back from a calf strain, while Iago Falque and Nicolas Viola remain sidelined and are joined by Andres Tello and Gabriele Moncini (ankle). 

Bologna: Nicolas Dominguez is disqualified. Lorenzo De Silvestri is out after subbing off with a thigh problem in the Fiorentina game, which Gary Medel missed with a calf contracture. Nicola Sansone (hip) is iffy, Lukas Skorupski (finger) will probably be back next week. Ibrahima Mbaye is out medium-term with a thigh strain.

Cagliari: Charalampos Lykogiannis was sent off in the last game. Ragnar Klavan is working on his conditioning after COVID. Diego Godin (calf) and Adam Ounas (thigh) are trying to shake off some muscle fatigue, Paolo Faragò a bruise: nobody will return in this one. Andrea Carboni contracted Coronavirus.

Cagliari: Ahmad Benali and Luca Cigarini could miss another one with calf problems.

Fiorentina: Patrick Cutrone skipped the last two matches with back spasms.

Genoa: Christian Zapata is being evaluated for a possible calf injury after limping off in the past match. Federico Marchetti and Goran Pandev stay on the shelf like Luca Pellegrini, Francesco Cassata and Vittorio Parigini. They are all dealing with thigh injuries. Stefano Sturaro is surprisingly back in a hurry. 

Inter: Romelu Lukaku is in doubt because of a quad contracture. Andrea Pinamonti is recovering from an ankle problem, Matias Vecino from knee surgery and are closing in on a full recovery.

Juventus: Alex Sandro tested positive for COVID, while Alvaro Morata will likely remain sidelined with a thigh issue.

Lazio: Lucas Leiva is suspended. Marco Parolo might return following some time on the shelf with an ankle sprain, while Mohamed Fares (calf) and Joaquin Correa (calf) will remain on the mend. Ciro Immobile is suddendly questionable with a sore Achilles and his availability will come down to the wire. 

Milan: Sandro Tonali was sent off versus Benevento. No returns among their injured players, Ismael Bennacer (thigh), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (calf) and Alexis Saelemaekers (thigh) and Matteo Gabbia (knee).

Napoli: Kalidou Koulibaly is trying to recover from a thigh pull but they will probably play it safe. Dries Mertens returned in Italy but is set to remain out with an ankle sprain. Kevin Malcuit has a sore calf. Victor Osimhen is out with COVID and a shoulder sprain.

Parma: German Pezzella is back from a thigh ailment, but they have lost Juraj Kucka (calf pull), Simone Iacoponi (calf strain) and Yordan Osorio (soreness), while Gervinho (thigh) is not ready to return. 

Roma: Federico Fazio (knee soreness) and Leonardo Spinazzola (thigh) remain sidelined. Davide Santon, Pedro, Riccardo Calafiori and Antonio Mirante will stay out with their thigh problems. Edin Dzeko might be initially spared due to a minor ailment. 

Sampdoria: Albin Ekdal is suspended. Alex Ferrari is nursing a thigh strain, Manolo Gabbiadini is recuperating from sports-hernia surgery.

Sassuolo: Federico Ricci and Filippo Romagna are out, Marlon (COVID scare) has been cleared to return. 

Spezia: Julian Chabot and Nahuel Estevez are suspended. Matteo Ricci, Simone Bastoni and Gennaro Acampora contracted Coronavirus. Leo Sena (calf) and Cristan Dell’Orco are back from their injuries, while Federico Mattiello, Simone, Verde, Jeroen Zoet, Andrej Galabinov, Elio Capradossi remain out. 

Torino: Cristian Ansaldi practiced fully and should after missing time with a thigh injury. Alessandro Buongiorno has muscle fatigue in his calf.

Udinese: Ignacio Pussetto might have torn his ACL versus Juventus and they are awaiting for further tests. Gerard Deulofeu is trying to solve from a foot edema, Thomas Ouwejan to find the right form after COVID: only the latter is available in this one. Bram Nuytinck (calf) and Stefano Okaka (thigh) will miss a couple more.

Verona: Samuel Di Carmine is ready to return from a thigh strain, while Andrea Favilli and Ronaldo Vieira will stay on the mend. Marco Benassi is rehabbing his calf strain away from the team.
